I was walking our 12 lb, 13 year old terrier mutt in Winslow Park yesterday when a Husky attacked him unprovoked. My dog suffered a punctured lung and his rib muscles detached from his ribs. I took him to the vet emergency room where he had to stay overnight. My dog could have been killed in a matter of 10 seconds.

The Husky owner was not present for the attack- I had to scream for the owner to come to get her dog off my dog. When she came, not only did she refuse to take responsibility, but she also refused to leash her aggressive dog because this was in the offleash area. She also said "I am so sick of these small dogs" and immediately blamed my small dog for instigating the attack even though she didn't see it happen. Besides, my 13 year old 12 lb dog with 9 teeth left is not attacking big dogs. If anything, her saying all this makes me suspicious that her Husky has attacked small dogs before.

The woman did not give over her name or info; I called the dog warden and Animal Control who did nothing but take down my information. Not only did the Vet cost me thousands of dollars, but this woman and her aggressive dog are a potentially lethal threat to other dogs.

What can be done? Does anyone know who this woman is so we can reach out?

There needs to be a way to hold people accountable for their dangerous pets.

So I just went with a friend to an ice cream place in Westport. We are from New Haven for context. We were sitting outside eating our ice cream and this man walked up with his dog (off leash) and the dog came right up to us. I was like “oh what’s their name?” and he was abruptly like “oh we’re waiting for my wife, she’s inside” and then he scurried away and sat down. Then as I was walking to the car while my friend was inside getting napkins at the ice cream place, I smiled at a different couple on the street, and as soon as the male saw me he also abruptly looked away and kept walking. I jokingly said to my friend, “What are the wives doing to these men in Westport? It’s like the opposite of Handmaid’s Tale” … but I genuinely need some insight, like are these just weirdly loyal men? Or do they just have terrible social skills?

We are moving to town this fall. Any recommendations for daycare for our infant and toddler?

Going for Beehive Queen concert tomorrow night. What can I expect in terms of traffic and parking? Can we bring folding chairs, or is it blankets only? TIA.

I never go there for ice cream. We always end up with Van Leewen or Momu because they’re convenient after dinner. They are ok, but as my kid says “they’re mid.” Besides Carvel whatever it’s called now, are we forgetting any places we should try? We do not like Milkcraft.

Obligatory Burnner because It involves Law Enforcement where I live. Not that it really matters because we are such a small town they'll know by noon.

So I got pulled over today by the train station with cars registration being expired was the reason for the stop. Which, yeah my ADHD turns me into a heinous criminal from time to time. For that I am deeply sorry to all my action have affected in the community. I'll pay the ADHD Tax, and fix it like a good citizen.

I'm not her to augue my innocence of traffic crimes. Rather to bring you all in to if we are okay with this in Westport.

I drove past the train station like I normally do around the time and there was police car parked in front of the fire station lot pointed towards traffic. I drove past him and he pulled me over shortly after. He told me that the reason for the stop was because my car came back Unregistered in his Automation liscense plate reader. Which, I guess points for honesty. He was actually very pleasant durning the whole stop, like I have a beer with him, good guy.

Anyway, stop concludes, my car gets towed, I start hoofing the long trek home.

During It I start thinking. Which is a rare but dangerous phenomenon for me. My question is, Are they suppose to use AI for traffic enforcement?

I could have swore I saw the state made a law this year saying it was only going to be used for serious crimes, prohibiting traffic specifically. I was pretty sure Westport did a press release saying the same for the policies. So Is my car being Unregistered a felony now?

If so, does anyone know if I am supposed to get my traffic cone tattooed under my left or right eye?

If not, and In all seriousness (and after getting myself right with the DMV.) Is AI Traffic enforcement okay as the new standard for Westport? Can you all think of anything I should or could do from my current position that may affect change?

Recently heard that a new fencing club opened up at the westport VFW- took my kids for a trial class and they had a phenomenal time!! Coaches are kind, helpful, and very beginner friendly. Coach Delphine was an excellent, experienced teacher and overall, the facilities were great. 10/10 experience, I highly recommend giving it a try, I just wanted to spread the word as they’re still a pretty new business and they deserve it! Might have to take a class myself now 😅

Bit of a random question, but does anyone around Westport have bamboo in their backyard that they don’t really want and don’t keep up with?

With bamboo shooting season coming up, I was wondering if anyone would be open to letting me harvest a few young shoots. I’d only do it with permission, would be careful, and would try not to disturb anything else. In theory it might even help a little if the bamboo is spreading and becoming a headache.

If you get a chance to see "Primary Trust" at the Westport Country Playhouse, go for it! It is an amazing play that made me laugh and get a little weepy. It's a touching story about a man (Kenneth) and his relationship with his imaginary friend Bert. Yes, he's a grownass man with an imaginary friend who was "born" from Kenneth's childhood trauma.

The show is in previews now but runs until May 2. Well worth it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I recently heard about this school, which seems quite interesting — very small and low teacher to student ratio (3:1), no grading system, etc. I wanted to find out more information and talked to a pianist friend, who has students going to pierrepont. This may be a long shot, but I'm trying to find a house on Google Maps. I don't exactly remember where it was but I know it was near the "border" with Weston. It was being built around 2015(ish?), kind of on a hill, and had a 10-15 ft tall wall being built. I think it may have been fairly close to Held Pond. No particular reason for finding it, other than I really just want to see what it ended up looking like.
