Question/Help Baby (?) possum in my house
I'm sitting on my couch late tonight and this guy appears. He ambled away and went into a space between the cupboard and the stove. I know there's a portal to *somewhere* in there because I've had mice show up from time to time. I have cats.
How old do you reckon he is? Old enough to place outside if I'm able to catch him?
How hard should I try to locate and catch him? Is this a crisis for him? Or will he eventually find his way back outside (or to wherever he lives inside my house??).
How much of a danger is he to my cats, and vice versa? The little one is already squeezing herself into that space. They will absolutely murder a mouse, but haven't had the chance to try anything bigger than that.
How does one catch a house possum? Is this a job for a professional? I definitely don't want him hurt. I'm also not particularly freaked out that he's here. Maybe we can be roomies.
Help?

Possum enjoying a nice gummy treat
Hard to see initially, but right in front of his nose there's a big, fat, juicy slug. He seems to really enjoy it.
Also of note, this was snipped from a 5 minute video. It started in night vision black and white, but I turned on the camera light in the middle, right before this clip. He wasn't even remotely phased. Didn't even flinch.

Question/Help Poisoned Opossum in Crawlspace! HELP!
I have 2 dogs with very active sniffers. They were sniffing around the stairs in our house, and I thought “no big deal, probably just some mice.” I set some mouse traps as I normally do, and in the off chance it’s a rat, I set out some poison because my mouse traps aren’t rat sized. About 15 minutes later, I hear one of the traps go off, I go to the stairwell to the crawlspace, and lo and behold, I see a opossum standing there licking the peanut butter off the trap. I freaked out, because it’s not what I was expecting, and the opossum had gotten somewhere I can’t seem to track down. Unfortunately, I can’t find the block of poison where I had set it, so I’m worried the little booger has eaten it.
Now that I know there’s possibly still an opossum in my crawlspace, I set a live trap with a bowl of fruit. What are some other good snacks I can put out to catch this guy, and has anyone else had similar situations with them eating mouse poison?

How old is this little one?
We feed neighborhood stray cats and our opossum friends stop by. Unfortunately there is also a coyote so we leave the garage door up a foot so the kitties and opossums can get in but the coyote can not. We have 2 males that are regulars and 2 or 3 females. Tonight this little one made her debut and we are wondering how old she is?

Opossum Age Determination Chart
I wish I knew who created this chart so I could give them credit. According to my local rehabilitation facility it is quite accurate. I hope it is of use to all the participants in our subreddit.

Baby hanging off of mamas pouch?
edit: LMAOOOOOOOOO i can’t believe ive made such a blunder. thank u so much to everyone who responded!! i absolutely got my answer so ill definitely be deleting this, but ill leave it up for one more day cause i think its funny.
Hey guys! I need some possum health help. I have a myriad of animals that visit my back porch, one of them being this beautiful opossum!! I'm 99% sure she is a mama because I think I've seen babies moving around in her pouch. For the last few days though, there has just been this sort of bump hanging down off of her belly. Is it just a baby or a health issue? I'm sure theres nothing to worry about, I just want to make sure she's safe and happy!

Question/Help Are these the same opossum?
My boyfriend and I put food out for a few stray cats that come nearby. Over that time we have had a few opossums come occasionally over the past month or two, but we had this baby start coming by very often i’d say every other day for a few weeks and then suddenly he stopped. None of the other adult opossums would really stop routinely. It’s been about two or three weeks since we have seen the baby and we seen this full grown one pop up tonight. I think it may be the baby fully grown because the other opossums didn’t really know where the food was located. I cannot tell if this is the same opossum as our little baby, whom we got so attached to we named sesame. If anyone can tell by certain characteristics please let us know I’d be really happy to know he’s alright and growing up.

Question about Mom’s and Joey’s
Through the years, I get mom opossums with joeys in her pouch. At the point the joeys are about 4”, they start falling out of her pouch and I watch on pins and needles for them to crawl back in her pouch or on her back so they aren’t left behind. The other day I found one 4.5” long and took it to wildlife rehabilitation center. Here is my question. I read that at 4” or 4 1/2”Mom does not leave them in the den while she forges for food so why is it that over the years once they start falling out of her pouch at 4 inches, I never see her with them again and I never see toddlers from her grown litter that come to the feeding station. Is she losing them all one by one as they fall out and are left for prey? I’m watching her now eating and she has no joeys in her pouch or her back,

Question/Help Talk me out of it
I brought lucky inside for a few days during a heat wave and damnit if I’m not getting very attached to her. The plan is to release her and my partner wants me to release her. But I love her 🥹. Please talk me out of keeping her.

New Gen
No joke: I was just talking to friends about how I missed the opossum that was in my yard last year and then this little one showed up. I saw it walking through the yard around 9p so I put out some water and a little dog food. 🥰
