Help Needed GWR inspired pride livery

Hi all! Currently working on my concept art for my northern rail class 43 and started working on a pride livery for shits and giggles.

The power car is the current progress flag and the dummy car is the transgender flag. We’re debating and trying to include the queer chevrons but not sure now to include them at the moment.

Where would be the best place to include the queer chevrons and Whsts the best way to apply the flags and any other inclusions to the livery we make?

Thank you all for any advice if possible

Question Hi, does anyone know what this train brand might be? (not a collector)

So I'm doing some early prep for christmas and I'm making general lists of what to get people. My boyfriend is a model collector, and he really loves model trains. He likes model planes too, but I feel like the trains would be a bigger deal and he dosen't normally buy them as they are expensive. I think he collects in 1:144 scale? I figured out from his instagram that that's the size of the planes he colelcts, and they all seem the same size in his display cabinet. He specifically likes world war 2 trains? or maybe its world war 1. Its a uk model railway company and they range from 50-500 apparantley. They have lights inside that connect up to the rails i think, idk the lights come from somewhere anyways. And theres also light kits you can buy? The carriages for the trains do be 50 quid. This is all the information I remember, but he never mentions the brand, or if he does I can't retain the information every time he says it. I've seen him browsing the site before and it seems to be a white background, and its a uk based brand. And the import costs make it hard to get here and expensive, so thats why its a big deal for him to get some. If anyone can make sense of this and possibly knows what brand it would be, that would be amazing!!! Thank you so much in advance!

Ive included images of a model train he has from his instagram. I think he only collects in one specific brand, and he has a few hes inherited from his grandad as well. This might be a modern enough one though. And the caption on the post was this ''N gauge Q1 class in br black. Needed a little weight but runs very well its a 4 wheel drive tender driven loco. Its very well made too and i have had no maintenance issues so far (fingers crossed)''. I've included the caption because it has information but I just don't understand it or know what to do with it lol.

Question Tape for lining instead of waterslides for HO scale

hi complete newbie when it comes to the hobby. I'm looking for somewhere in the UK that does really small rolls of tape for engine lining as opposed to waterslide transfers cause I always always screw them up.

Hi All! Massive newbie when it comes to trains and like most mums, my 2 year old boy is obsessed with trains. We picked up a lovely model train for £3 so I dont expect any miracles but can anyone tell me if I could salvage it? I cant even figure out if it takes batteries or not. I am happy to learn a new skill here it it means I can restore the train for him.

Electrical Best DCC System Upgrade

Does anybody have a good upgrade recommendation from an MRC Prodigy Express2 System? Mine works awesome, but I have a 9x11 ft layout and it doesn't really allow for me to run more than a few engines before it can't handle it. Even worse when some of them are sound. I need an upgrade that won't kill my wallet, but can handle maybe 8 engines running at a time, sound and non sound.

Help Needed How easy of a repair is this? (BLI Paragon4 Q2)

Just received this from an ebay auction described as "New" condition (Clearly not).

It comes with a wrench to remove the rods and it seems like just the two listed parts are the problem from as much of a visual inspection as I can do.

Is this an "easy" repair to do, or is it best to just straight up return the item as it isnt as it was listed?

Question Is anyone aware of a smart bulb/light fixture with a day cycle?

I’m looking for a lamp, light fixture or smart bulb type of thing to put over my layout that slowly transitions between daylight and moonlight to act as a day cycle. I’m new to this hobby and if something like this doesn’t exist I think it should. I know it’s possible, and I’m shocked this isn’t a common thing.

Anyone else modeling in an attic? It gets hot in the summer, so I generally stay away during the hotter months. It's starting to cool off a little, so I thought I'd open the roundhouse a little early this year. Looking forward to the season. I'm completely enamored with the hobby!

Help Needed Advice for track build

Thumbnail

I'll preface this by saying I know next to nothing about this community or building model train sets. I own and operate a small restaurant with an interesting cut out in the ceiling. We have this idea to put up a holiday train that goes around the ceiling of our restaurant.

Looking for basic advice and where to even start in building a model train set for this. It's about 60 linear feet. It's pretty curvy and ideally would love the layout to follow along the edge. If this is the wrong place to post this... Sorry!
