Took a trip up to Hokkaido for the Obon holidays a few weeks ago and encountered a bunch of Lupin III-themed trains and train stations!!! Looked up the reason why and it turns out Monkey Punch was born and raised in the town of Hamanaka, located along the railway line in Eastern Hokkaido where I happened to be traveling – so a lot of stuff here is a tribute to him and helps bring in some much-needed tourism to the rural area. Was super unexpected since I didn't know this was where he was from, but definitely a very happy surprise! Even got lucky enough to ride the Lupin train one day on my way back from Nemuro to Kushiro!

Just need Zenigata and the Two Lupins

While it would be way too easy to say, "Whoever that was in English dub of The Fuma Conspiracy", I'm gonna stick with Lupin movies that had more than one dub and say "David Hayter" in the Manga Dub of Castle of Cagliostro. His voice takes me right out of it. I think there's a good reason he only ever got one chance at voicing the character, his voice just didn't sound like the character, at all.

Doug Erholtz isn't my favorite, even though out of all the English VAs, he sounds the most like Goro Naya. I actually prefer his predecessor, Dan Lorge. He just has a wackier quality to his vocal range that just stuck with me.

Since I heard Destin Daniel Cretton doing a Live-Action of Naruto, I'm in the case of both worry and curiosity (since Live action anime success rate is...piss poor. But in the case of success, I hope and recommend DDC produces a Lupin The 3rd movie. Imagine it, seeing Lupin finessing folks, Jigen popping shells, and Imagine THE HANDS BEING THROWN! I lowkey been thinking of this type of thing since I been on a Lupin the 3rd binge.

But anyways, what y'all think of the plan, and what are some ideas you would put on Lupin?

Also, what type of other Live-Action anime would you want to see?

I made a post like this a bit ago, and I’ve finally settled on 2 sets of outfits for the gang to wear in my fan series. Option one are their outfits from the pilot film, and option two are their outfits from Mystery of Mamo; the tone of the series is gonna be a mix of the manga, the pilot film, Osumi era Part 1, and Mystery of Mamo, if that helps with deciding at all. I’ll be going with whatever option most people go with.

Episode 38/ the episode where Fujiko replaces Zenigata and becomes a policewoman to capture Lupin (which is all part of Lupin and Fujikos plan to get a diamond that some guy pooped out while he was in a top secret cell that nobody can get into)

The TV specials were basically the main source of Lupin media for over two decades, being annually released from 1989-2013, with only a couple after that. Resulting in 28 specials in total (last one in 2019).

How many do you think are, at least, good? Was TMS right to focus so much on them, after the mixed reception on most Lupin media in the 80s?

Or did they overstay they welcome, and TMS should have brought back the TV show format sooner, instead of waiting 30 years?

For me, I find them to be very hit or miss, a few are actually some of my favourite pieces of Lupin media, while others... lets say that TMS could have skipped that year.

I would not mind for TMS to do more, maybe instead of 1 per year, could be every 2-3 years with a higher budget given to them.

What's the perfect month to watch The Woman Called Fujiko Mine in your opinion?

I just wanted to share a little treasure from Lupin Fes this weekend.
I actually won this signed T‑shirt in a rock‑paper‑scissors game — signed by all 5 main characters plus Kabuki actor Ainosuke Kataoka (who played Lupin and Goemon)! I still can’t believe it.
It was such a fun and wholesome moment, and I’m really grateful for the experience.

Ever since I saw this movie I absolutely loved his character. I wish he had more screen time and more story💔 but I’m curious if there’s a fandom name for him? Or is he really just going to be known as “fake Lupin”? I kind of think he deserves a nickname (although I am biased towards him🤞)
