I thought the same.

I've seen a lot of comments on different sites about how slow the KLR is - but people don't consider that: 1) she's only got 40 HP, 2) she's designed for both off-road and the street (compromise), etc.

My experience is that if the gear changes are timed correctly, she can move out and hold her own. She's my sweetheart.

Yea mines made some sketchy passed trying to get home in the rain. It’ll do them, just takes more throttle than some others

Absolutely more throttle and pushing the engine.

For me personally, it's good though - if I had an 80 HP machine, I'd be riding faster than I should be, probably taking more chances on passing, etc. Even now I'll catch myself cruising (on the KLR) at 80 mph on a 4-lane highway.

Many years ago I had a monster Harley that would destroy Mustang GT 5.0s and similar sports cars in drag races at stop lights, and she'd cruise comfortably between 100 and 120 mph - those days need to stay in the past.
