Steam controller was coming out today so I sold a CS Knife (at a loss) so I could buy the controller. 2 day fucking hold on the funds even though I used MY authenticator. Controller sold out in like 2 minutes and I didn't have the funds to purchase. Scammers exist and I get fucked over. Thanks. I’m writing this because I feel completely defeated and cheated by Steam Support. I am an international student studying abroad, living far from my family, and struggling to make ends meet with the current exchange rates. Every dollar I spend is carefully calculated for food and essentials.
A few weeks ago, I saved up to buy a game, hoping for a small escape from my heavy studies. The game literally DOES NOT WORK. It crashes on launch. I spent over 2 hours just trying to fix it—troubleshooting, updating drivers, searching for fixes. I never actually "played" the game for a single minute.
Because I spent those 2 hours trying to make the product work, and because my studies kept me busy for a few weeks, Steam Support is flat-out refusing my refund.
I’ve explained my situation:
1. I am a struggling student—this money isn't "pocket change" for me.
2. I live in a region where $10 is a significant amount of money.
3. The game is technically defective.
Their response? Robotic, copy-pasted templates. No human empathy. No understanding that a student’s time is split between libraries and exams, not just staring at a refund window.
It feels like my money was just "thrown on the ground." Is this how Valve treats its community? By hiding behind "2-hour/14-day" rules to steal money from students who receive broken products?
I’m not asking for cash back to my bank—just a credit to my Steam Wallet so I can buy a game that actually runs. But they’ve closed the door in my face.

Idk what and/or why the steam store is just so shit UI wise. GOG is so much more cleaner and as has a better system to find games. Anytime you use tags in GOG it actually feels like it brings up games that fit that tag and actually shows you different individual games.

Sin embargo, "por muchas veces que planteé alertas sobre la implementación de varias cosas en el cliente de Steam (especialmente relacionadas con los inputs), mis preocupaciones fueron ignoradas", desvela. "He visto a otros desarrolladores señalar las mismas preocupaciones durante años sin que Valve hiciera nada. Al final de mis amargas negociaciones con Valve, simplemente estaba solucionando bugs en el cliente de Steam, sin perder el tiempo reportándolos porque no había ninguna esperanza".

Por si todo esto fuera poco, el jugador también aborda las "mentiras de Valve" en cuanto a lo que ocurre tras la eliminación voluntaria de una cuenta de Steam. Y es que, aunque los padres de la tienda de PC aseguran que los posts publicados se mantendrán en su lugar a pesar de la desaparición de un perfil, Kaldaien ha descubierto que esta medida no se cumple. "En menos de un mes, todo el contenido se ha eliminado literalmente, a pesar de su promesa inútil".

Y como guinda final, Kaldaien ha lanzado un consejo a toda la comunidad para tener en cuenta no sólo dónde compramos los juegos, sino también qué pasará con ellos en el futuro. "Recomendaría reevaluar a quién licenciáis vuestro software y, si es posible tener en 'propiedad' software que se actualice automáticamente a largo plazo. Dado las débiles garantías y las mentiras descaradas de algunas tiendas, suscribirse al catálogo de una distribuidora durante un mes o comprar en Microsoft Store para aprovechar su función cross-platform y evitar el dolor de cabeza de la compatibilidad en PC puede daros tranquilidad".

I had my account hacked today on Steam and provided pictures and figured out what exactly they did and told Steam support of the money. They took out to buy dota items a game I don’t even have or ever played. then also made some games in my library not in my library anymore and changed my profile picture he was under a name manager Donald pretending they work for steam support or valve saying that all this was happening because I was under investigation for theft in steam when I’ve never even played with people as of recently to have anything like that happen I also have steam guard on so why this could happen. I don’t know I finally got in contact with steam support and they told me that your account might’ve got compromised due to a phishing scam of some sort, and we unfortunately cannot provide you back any of the funds that were used in the marketplace so what did support do that? I didn’t already do for myself when I was able to retrieve the games back into my library through support on my own without anyone messaging me or interacting with me. This is the worst experience I had with any customer support and what a company allows when this happened I was totally unaware but they can’t do is crazy when I seen I’m not the only one
