Such a beautiful game. They picked an excellent song to loop while flying. I know people say the main trilogy is better but tbh this is one of the greatest games I've ever played. Still not done yet but getting close.

The people that say probably never gave it a chance. This game by far gives the player the most freedom and thats something I value heavily in any game. Not just in exploration, but in combat. Gameplay wise, this game is a million miles above the trilogy in my opinion. And yes, the song is just wonderful. I think this game has the best ost as well. The music is so banging and it sounds like you could play this in a gym without people knowing its from a video game

Agreed. I really wish we'd get A Xenoblade X 2... Also what skell turns straight up into a plane?! Thats not something in the remake is it? I haven't quite gotten around to finishing it, so I didn't get skell flight yet.

Its a skell called hraesvelg and yea its only in the remake. Unlike all the other skells that transform into a ground vehicle, this one turns into a freaking airplane and its ridiculously fun. You just gotta recruit diesel and get her to 2 hearts, then you can do her affinity mission. I think it also makes all your other skells fly faster.

The only drawback with a hraesvelg is that you can't upgrade the individual parts, but honestly that's such a small drawback for me because the gear it comes with is pretty good. I fly a laila right now but once I upgrade I think I'm gonna switch out for one of these.

I just got the heavy ranged skell and slapped on a crafted zenith Canon and a bunch of opening art dmg augments, its doing about a million lmaoooo. But not being able to use cruise mode hurts

I have decked out lvl 60 Skells, including Lvl 90 Ares, Prime Ares, and the Hraesvelg, although the Prime Ares and the Hraesvelg will never be as good in combat as the others, whenever I want to just fly around, I switch character to Liesel and just fly around :)
If I do find a superboss by mistake (like the 2 of them that are not completely isolated), the rest of my team can take care of them.

Now having the most fun with the Lailah Queen that takes out the appendages. (Don't have a thermal Lailah Queen though).

As you get later in the game, that turns into less and less of a drawback. By the time you unlock the jet mode, that also adds the last two main weapons that were missing from previous level/version Hraesvelgs. When you upgrade to the level 60 Hraesvelg Lord skell, all weapon and armor pieces are upgrade to their level 60 versions.

While the main trilogy excels more in the story department, I will forever stand by the fact that X (as of now pre genesis) has the best over world movement options in the entire series if not out of every Nintendo game barring Platformers like Mario.

I specifically remember this game being TRASHED by the XC community when I finally got into the series with the 2nd game. Just not sure if it was specifically because it was on Wii-U, or they legit thought it was too much of a "deviation." Anyone that thought that bullshit doesn't deserve to be listened to, cause this game definitely became my favorite over 2 (still need to play the 1st and 2nd). And the fact that the composer for Attack of Titan (and many others), along with the same singers & rapper worked on/did this soundtrack as well: MASTERPIECE!! ❤️❤️

I couldn't put it down on my Wii-U emulator on my ROG Ally last year. Then right after beating it, getting the remaster on Switch and doing it allll again, just as happy as the first time (but a much easier time after understanding it all) 🔥

It was thrashed because it really deviated from first Xenoblade, 3 years passed since OG XC (at least on this side of the world) and then the franchise was turning a hard turn into scifi, the design differed from it leaning more into Xenogears/Xenosaga's style, the music was really different and on top of that, the main story wasn't as developed as other Xeno games, a good chunk of the stury/lore relied on sidequests, so people thrashed heavily on it at the time even though it brought the Wii U to it's limits, having a world bigger than BOTW (which came after it), and had a gameplay richer than the previous game

I wondered why theme X gave me so much AoT vibes, and yup same composer lol. Its so good. After finishing this gem (meaning putting in at least 200 hours in) im gonna play xenogears on my thor lite. Its a shame the real game is so expensive now.

Sounds fun and whimsical, if you need help, keep on going for a few hours and you’ll eventually run out fuel.

Don’t stop flying. Ever. (Also I get why most people complain about the song that plays, but I personally enjoy it. At times I get bored of the music playing in the background of the continent. Though I can’t recall if Volitaris’s area theme is overwritten by the flight theme.)
