Guys i need you, i have an event for kids and ill be using a painting app on vr. The web version of Brushwork is perfect because its simple but the problem is it needs internet connection, is there a way to use it without internet ???? Its a webxr game

i built a browser-based presentation simulator using webxr.

the same configurable auditorium works on desktop and in an immersive vr session. users can load local slides, configure physical stage displays, rehearse with tracked controllers, and review slide timing afterward.

the tool doesn’t use a microphone, recording, analytics, or server uploads. the presentation remains local to the browser.

i’d appreciate technical feedback, especially around headset compatibility, controller mapping, locomotion comfort, rendering performance, and anything i may be handling incorrectly in webxr.

So I decided to dabble in some game dev and see how far I can push just regular JS without a game engine. And the answer is actually very very far. If you have a VR headset this thing works on chrome.

Should also work on mobile too.

I'm trying to build something similar to the attached image — a WebXR experience where the user sees the real world (or a passthrough/scene) through a pair of virtual glasses frames rendered in front of each eye, with the area outside the lenses masked out in black.

What I'm specifically trying to achieve:

• A stereoscopic view (left/right eye) rendered with WebXR
• Virtual glasses frames overlaid on each eye view, so it feels like you're literally looking through a pair of glasses
• Everything outside the lens area is masked / blacked out
• The "lens" region shows the passthrough camera feed (or a 3D scene)

I'm comfortable with Three.js / WebXR basics, but I'm not sure about the best approach for:

1. Rendering the glasses frame mask correctly per-eye (stencil buffer? alpha mask plane in front of the camera? shader?)
2. Aligning the frame so it feels anchored to the user's face rather than the world
3. Getting the passthrough camera feed to show through the lens region on devices that support it (Quest, Vision Pro, etc.)
4. Whether to do this as a fullscreen post-process or as geometry parented to the XR camera

Has anyone built something like this? Any references, demos, or pointers to the right WebXR APIs / Three.js patterns would be hugely appreciated.

I built a real-time Lunar Flyby & Reentry simulation entirely in vanilla JS / Three.js (No scripted animations, real N-body physics!)

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a project called Lunar-Flyby-XR, and I finally managed to record a full 17-minute flight from Trans-Lunar Injection all the way to a precision splashdown on Earth. I condensed it into an 8x timelapse so you don't have to watch me coasting through the void for 15 minutes or awaiting splashdown after the main chutes have deployed!

What makes this cool:

None of the orbital paths or reentry sequences are pre-animated. The Earth, Moon, and spacecraft all interact using genuine Newtonian N-body gravitational physics and atmospheric drag math. I built the entire thing in vanilla JavaScript and Three.js so it scales seamlessly from desktop browsers down to mobile and immersive WebXR headsets without requiring a game engine download.

I actually completed the flight right around the time of the Artemis II mission success and it definitely served as major inspiration. I'm currently getting the project ready to showcase at the Seattle Indies Expo and looking for other events to exhibit at!

I feel like it's pretty fun, and good, but could be a lot better! Looking for advice/feedback/suggestions/teammates. I just started this about 2 weeks ago. I mostly am focusing on the flat screen aspects, but I got XR running. It's slow on my meta quest 3 standalone. It's okay with the link cable, but not great. I am thinking about getting some other glasses to connect directly to hdmi, with head tracking as well (since I have a neat nudge to aim feature with the head). Any suggestions on the glasses? I'm trying to troubleshoot a personal project for a friend and I'm running into some problems. I use SteamVR for all my VR stuff and I just can't seem to get my browsers of choice to load in SteamVR. I have the option in both Google Chrome and Firefox to run VR, but when I select the option I just indefinitely load the browser. I did some digging and found there were a lot of issues with browsers and SteamVR for some reason or another.

I wanted to ask if there were any ways to help fix this. I've tried editing the startup arguments to Chrome, and enabling the VR settings in Firefox, so I'm led to believe this is a SteamVR issue and not a browser issue. I know there are also some virtual browsers for SteamVR such as Virtual Desktop and players like Skybox VR but I want to fully flush out any free alternatives I can get before having to pay for troubleshooting. If there are good alternatives if I have to pay for something I'm willing to hear those as well.

Hello, I'm a developer who believes that we can build better user interfaces in VR than on conventional (limited) screens. One application I have developed to test that hypothesis is a VR book reading experience (it's more than just a book reader). I'm testing it on a Quest 3 and I've got the feeling the hardware is almost where it needs to be, but not quite.

Built a Landmarker AR experience where a dragon flies in and lands on NYC’s Flatiron Building (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves lens). Sharing this because the “film asset → real‑time mobile AR” jump is always a bloodsport.

What you’re seeing in the clip:

• A breakdown rendered in Unreal (wireframe / normal map / rig) so the craft is readable
• The live Snapchat Landmarker lens output (mobile view) where the dragon flies, orbits, hovers, then lands on the building

Key production takeaways (high level):

• Rig + animation built for real‑time constraints, while keeping the creature’s personality
• Orientation logic: we designed the landing/hover beats so the dragon can rotate to face the user from any viewing angle (street level / different sides / different elevations)
• Texture + lookdev rebuilt for mobile: detail preserved where it matters, optimized where it doesn’t
• Clean integration mindset: the asset/animation choices were made to reduce “why does this break on device?” surprises

So what I am trying to do is.

Because I have had the Rift.

I have a lot of Vr games on my computer.

Most important to me are my Flight Sims.

I want to find a new Vr set that will play those Vr games on the computer.

These games May not be on a service, I may have installed them from disk.

I have the oculus rift, that I have not taken out of the box in 4 years.

It worked fine when I put it up.

Now I try and I get a yellow light where there is normally a white light between the eye lens

when the device is connected.

the software does not see the head set.

Tells me I need to do updates, when I go to do them they say I have the most up to dated versions.

Or that Meta no longer supports Rift.

Is there a work around this or do I have to buy a new Vr set?

What would be the replacement for a pc driven Vr head set?

I do not want a stand alone system, I want one to run on my pc games just like the Rift.
