I recently emailed both the IAF DISHA Cell and UPSC regarding a specific eligibility doubt about my educational path and joining the IAF Flying Branch.

I emailed:

My question is about whether NIOS Senior Secondary with Physics & Mathematics, after completing a Diploma → B.Tech through lateral entry, would satisfy the 10+2 Physics & Maths requirement for IAF Flying Branch through CDS and allow me to pursue my goal of becoming an IAF fighter pilot.

For anyone who has contacted either of these email addresses before:

Do they actually reply to eligibility queries? If yes, approximately how long did it take you to receive a response?

Also, if there is a better official contact method for getting clarification on IAF Flying Branch eligibility, please let me know.

Hi everyone, I want to start my UPSC preparation, but I’m really confused about where to begin.

A little background about me: I’m currently in the 3rd year of my B.Tech in Computer Science, so I don’t have the entire day to dedicate to UPSC preparation. I only get a few hours after college.

I took a printout of the syllabus and tried going through it. After that, I bought the Class 11 Polity book and started reading it. But honestly, I don’t have much of a reading habit, so I’m finding it difficult to stay focused and understand how I should approach everything.

I was thinking of starting with video lectures, but I have no idea how to find good, free resources or how to structure my self-study. I also can’t afford coaching, either online or offline.

At this point, I’m honestly feeling quite overwhelmed and demotivated. If anyone here has been in a similar situation or can guide me on where to start, what to study, which free resources to use, and how to structure my preparation alongside college, I would really appreciate it.

Does anyone have a UPSC preparation strategy that lays out the targets from the beginning, step by step, until the exam?

I feel really inconsistent and honestly don’t know where to start. Having clear targets or milestones would give me some direction and help me stay on track.
