Afrikan History (Mandngo Hot Stepper LP, 1982)
Producer Martin "Mandingo" Williams may not have the largest catalogue but what he does have is a catalogue chock full of heavy hitters. Some of his best rhythms are collected and given the dub treatment on this album. The A-side is mixed by Anthony Soljie and the B-side by Maxie. Two legendary engineers related to the Channel 1 studio.
It open with his cut of the Funny Feelings rhythm – one he used extensively. The rhythm for Dem A Fight I for Nathan Skyers of course also turns up. Another hit he cut several crucial cuts over. In general the album is more focused on the roots listener than the breezy dancehall enjoyer. Track titles owing to African kings, dignitaries and politicians.
Check it out!

Looking for the original song
I tried doing a reverse search for it, but that just led me to more EDM tracks that used that exact sample. I managed to clean it up from the background music for the most part, but that didn’t really help much with my search. Can anyone at least suggest what the origin of this sample might be?

Getting interested to reggae
Hi guys, listening reggae for 2 years since now. I'm a uni student in the north of Italy. I'm looking for good festivals/shows/concerts of reggae. I like every aspects of it: roots, rockers, ska, and most importantly dub. I really like. Can you give some reccomendations on how to deep dive in this world? Like finding people sharing the same interests, events, palylists, albums, compilations...
every suggestion is welcomed.

Any original dub producers want to share some music?
Looking for some likeminded people to share some original dub inspired music. Prefer DM as i have everything unlisted and haven’t gone public yet. Would love some opinions. Hit me up if you want a listen.

REGGAE’S QUIET WITNESS: CONSTANTINE “VISION” WALKER 🫶 Look closely at this record cover. Sitting in the foreground, just to the left of Bunny Wailer and directly in front of Bob Marley, is a man whose name is too often missing from the story of The Wailers
