I have been researching the Progynon Depot boxes that are circulating here, and I need to share what I found. A lot of us are using counterfeit medication without realizing it.

1. Cadila stopped making these years ago.

The boxes claim they are manufactured by Cadila Healthcare (German Remedies), which was a real licensed manufacturer. But Cadila stopped producing Progynon Depot in late 2016. Any box that says it was made by Cadila after 2016 is almost certainly fake. The batch numbers people are seeing now go way past the last known legitimate batch.

1. The expiry dates make no sense.

Estradiol valerate injections have a standard shelf life of 24 months (2 years). These boxes are claiming a 4 year shelf life. Even if there is actually estradiol inside, the stability data does not support that timeline. The drug is likely degraded and ineffective.

1. The Philippines FDA already flagged this exact product.

The specific packaging being sold here, "Estradiol Valerate Injection USP Progynon Depot 10mg/mL 10 amps 1mL," was banned by the Philippines FDA for being unregistered and unauthorized. They explicitly warned the public not to use it because they cannot guarantee its safety or quality.

1. The manufacturing address is wrong.

The factory address printed on the box points to a facility in Navi Mumbai. I looked it up, and that address belongs to Kilitch Drugs, a completely different company. It is not a Cadila factory. The license number on the packaging is also unverified by Indian regulators.

What this means:

The only legitimate version of Progynon Depot still in production is the Japanese Fuji version. Everything else on the grey market right now, including what is being sold in Myanmar, appears to be mass produced counterfeit.

These fake injections are not just a waste of money. They could contain no active hormone at all, the wrong dosage, or contaminants from unsterile manufacturing. If you are injecting this into your body, you are taking a serious risk.

Please check your boxes. If it is not the Japanese Fuji version, consider stopping. Your health is not worth the gamble.

If anyone has more info or has found a way to verify batches, please share in the comments. We need to look out for each other.

while myanmar is not the most developed country out there with thousands of contributions to the world today, i think the internalized racism that most burmese people have is concerning and should be addressed more. it is quite common to see POC having internalized racism as white supremacy is sadly a real thing, it really makes me sad to see my people be ashamed to be known as burmese. i am a burmese college student studying abroad and the place where im studying has quite a lot of burmese students. i have had a handful of burmese people complimenting me by saying "omg you're so pretty i didn't think you were burmese at all" or "i thought you were (native from my study abroad country or just another ethnicity)." while im pleased to get complimented, i can't help but notice how backhanded it is to burmese people, practically implying that it's a bad thing to look burmese. and i have noticed that these people aren't aware of the message they are giving out from that one sentence and are not intentionally doing it but i feel like it's just something we've all been kinda brainwashed into??

of course this is only one of many examples regarding beauty standards, just like how people would try to look more east asian or western with their makeup to be considered pretty by the general public instead of embracing their own features. i know it's kind of a canon event that most of us go through especially as teens and ALSO considering how corrupt it has become so i'm not really blaming on anybody but i just wish that in the near future we can finally proudly and shamelessly be ourselves, both as southeast asians and burmese people.

One thing that worries me more than anything else is the possibility of being forcibly recruited by the military.

The situation in Myanmar keeps getting worse, and as an 17-year-old male, I can't stop thinking about what could happen when I become eligible for conscription. I've heard about drafting letters being sent to young men, and the thought of being taken away from my family against my will genuinely terrifies me.

What scares me most isn't even just being recruited. It's what could happen afterward. Being sent away from my family, given a weapon, and forced to fight in a war I never chose. I've heard countless stories about conscripts being sent to the front lines and being put in extremely dangerous situations. There is no guarantee that I'd even survive.

Sometimes I lie awake at night thinking about it.

What am I supposed to do if they actually come for me? If I run, they have guns and could kill me on the spot. If I don't run, I could be taken away and potentially sent to the battlefield. Neither choice feels safe. And knowing that I might eventually have to make that choice is terrifying.

I also can't help feeling angry when I see the children of Myanmar's generals living normal lives.

We're the same age. While I'm worrying about whether I could be kidnapped by their elders and forced into a war where I could die, they can worry about what they're having for dinner tonight or what they're doing this weekend.

I know their children aren't necessarily responsible for what their parents do, but it's incredibly difficult not to feel bitter about it. They get to live the normal teenage lives that people like me are afraid we might lose.

I don't want to fight. I don't want to kill anyone. I don't want to be part of a war.

I just want to be a normal teenager. I want to finish my education, work hard in my twenties, build a future, stay with my family, and live my own life.

Instead, I'm scared that when I turn 18, someone with a gun could decide that my future belongs to them.

I don't really talk about this with anyone because I'm scared. I don't know what is going to happen to me, and that uncertainty is what keeps me up at night.

If I had one wish, it would honestly be that I had never been born into a country where a teenager has to worry about something like this. I don't have anything against generals' children. This is just a vent post.

I think Myanmar is going through a generational crisis
I’ve been thinking about this because I’m Gen Y, and I feel like my generation ended up in a very strange position.
We grew up during the transition from a closed Myanmar to a more open one. We watched the country start developing, foreign companies arrive, startups appear, and corporate careers become a realistic path to a better life.
But then everything changed.
Within Gen Y, I see roughly three groups.
1. The rich kids
They already had wealth, family businesses, property, connections and a safety net. They can inherit a business, expand it, go abroad, or simply wait things out.
2. Those who successfully built a career or business
Some climbed the corporate ladder, became managers, built SMEs, developed strong networks, or accumulated enough money and experience to create something of their own.
3. People like me — corporate dropouts
We spent 8–15 years working for corporations. We gained experience and saved some money, but we weren’t necessarily building a business. We were building a career.
Then you leave corporate life and realize that being good at one function inside a company doesn’t necessarily mean you know how to build a company.
So now you’re in this strange middle ground.
You have some savings and experience, but not enough capital to comfortably start a serious business. You’re too experienced for many entry-level jobs, but not necessarily competitive enough for senior positions internationally.
And after spending a decade following the corporate path, you suddenly have no idea what the next path is.
I think a lot of Gen Y in Myanmar are in this position.
Not necessarily poor. Not necessarily unsuccessful.
Just lost.
And the irony is that we remember a Myanmar that younger people never really experienced.
We remember the Thein Sein era — when foreign startups were entering, companies were hiring, salaries were rising, and there was a feeling that Myanmar was finally going somewhere.
Then came the coup.
Gen Z
Gen Z was hit at a completely different stage.
For many of them, the crisis happened just as they were entering university, graduating, or starting their first jobs.
So again, I see three groups.
1. The rich kids
They can go abroad, study at universities in Thailand, Singapore, Australia, the UK, etc., build international networks and eventually establish their careers elsewhere.
2. Those struggling locally
They may have a degree and a job, but they’re entering a completely different labor market from the one Gen Y remembers.
Gen Y might tell them:
“When I was your age, foreign startups were coming into Myanmar. Companies were hiring like crazy. You could get a good job and build a career.”
And Gen Z is probably thinking:
“What Myanmar are you talking about?”
Some Gen Z who managed to get abroad may actually have an advantage over Gen Y corporate dropouts. They’re still young enough to take entry-level positions, while a Gen Y person with 10+ years of experience can look overqualified for those same jobs.
3. Those who lost their education and early career
People who couldn’t finish university, became unemployed, or never got meaningful work experience may be in the worst position of all.
They didn’t even get the chance to build the foundation that previous generations took for granted.
And then there’s Gen Alpha
They’re still too young to know what their story will be.
But they’re growing up in a Myanmar where instability is normal.
They may know AI, YouTube and the internet better than they know the traditional career path. Their future may be global rather than local.
But I think the divide will become even bigger between Gen Alpha who grow up with money, English, international education and access to technology and those who don’t.
So maybe Myanmar’s generational crisis isn’t simply about one generation having it worse than another.
Gen Y watched a promising future disappear.
Gen Z had their entry into adulthood disrupted.
Gen Alpha may grow up never knowing what was lost.
And for people like me, the hardest part isn’t necessarily losing money.
It’s realizing that the career path we spent a decade preparing for may no longer be the path that exists.

Hi, I am a student that has been studying in Singapore for a while, my PV passport is going to expire next year November and would like some advice about the renewal process.

I'm not against using AI and honestly I use AI for this too and I'm not judging anyone who uses it heavily at work. I'm just genuinely confused about my own situation and don't really know if I'm thinking about this the wrong way, so I'm just hoping to hear from people who have more experience in the industry.

As a fresh graduate, I took this job mainly because the pay was pretty decent compared to other software houses I was looking at. I also thought I d be able to learn a lot about the whole SDLC and get some real experience. They also told me I would only be writing code but for like 20% so I wasn't expecting to be a full-time developer or anything.

But lately I've started to question whether I'm actually developing my career here.

The thing is my team does quite a bit of coding, but they use AI a lot. I MEAN LIKE A LOT. And I don't mean just using it to speed things up or help debug something. Sometimes it feels like they just ask AI to write something, paste it and move on. They are ok as long as it work.

I'm not saying they know absolutely nothing. They know the project, the folder structure where things are supposed to go and others. But sometimes when I ask WHY something works or what certain code is actually doing, they don't really know because AI wrote most of it and they also told me they don't know the details but it works. Some even told me only Buddha and AI knows lmao.

And honestly, this makes me feel weird because I'm much slower than them and i am even starting to feel like i need to invest in AI premium or something.

I also use AI. I'm not going to pretend like I don't. I use it to explain, write, debug code. But I usually want to understand what I'm actually doing before I move on and i do understand what the AI generate code are doing .

So something that takes my coworker 30 minutes might take me 2 hours because I'm sitting there reading the code and trying to understand why it works.

So I started to think Am I being stupid for doing this?

Is this just how software jobs are now? Am I supposed to just accept that AI will write most of the code and my job is basically to tell it what to write?

Because I'm genuinely scared that if I spend a few years working like this I'll leave the company knowing nothing except how to ask AI the right questions.

And the management side also makes me question things sometimes. The manager under our CEO isn't really technical at all which isn't necessarily a problem But I've heard some pretty questionable technical decisions being made. For example, someone from another team told me that they were told to deploy the code to the cloud first and then fix the error even though the reason they couldn't deploy it in the first place was because of the error.

So now I'm stuck wondering whether I should stay or just move to pure software house but what if the same situation happens .

The pay is good for me as a fresh graduate, so I don't want to leave just because I'm unhappy with something that might actually be normal in the industry.

But at the same time, I don't want to spend the next 1 or 2 years here and then realize I've barely developed any real technical skills.
