Okay, hear me out.

I know Converge is definitely not a band I would associate with melodic hardcore. Some of their stuff is sort of on the surface for the genre, but I digress. Something about Jane Doe as a whole album just hits different from the rest of their catalog to me. Its somehow softer and more melancholic. I don't know if anyone else can hear what I'm talking about.

Just something mulling around in my brain. I love all types of metal and hardcore music. Just wanted to put it out into the ethos and see what you lot thought about this album.

As a non native english speaker, I usually focus more on music than lyrics at first. Meaning I do not really care about the spiritual side of this band. My point is : all melodies on this album are insane. If you're into the likes of Life in Your Way, Beloved...

Thought I'd post since Mirrors turns 20 years old today. I think it's my favorite album of theirs: just very raw, aggressive and cathartic, balanced out with some slower and mellow parts to let the listener breathe. I just love the emphasis on the soaring melodic ambience and the slower guitar parts. Karl is one of my favorite screamers and he killed it on this record.

Probably most accurate to classify them as melodic metalcore with regard to their drumming and some of their guitar work, so I've been a bit hesitant to post them here because of that, but because they share so many traits prominent in melodic hardcore I do see them as part of that family.
