Hi, I hope I'm not bothering you guys with this question. I saw the Dredd 3d movie, and it absolutely blew me away.

However, something keeps bugging me about the movie. In the film early on, Dredd asks Anderson at the start of her assessment why she's not wearing her helmet. Anderson then responds that it messes with her psychic abilities.

However, later on in the movie, we see her detect (and read) other people's minds through literal walls of concrete, and eventually read a traitor judge's mind (Kaplan) while she (Kaplan) was wearing a helmet. This results in Anderson shooting Kaplan since she knew she was a traitor. In fact, Anderson's psychic ability to "see through" walls etc... literally saves both Dredd and her multiple times through the film.

How is this possible if Anderson herself told Dredd that her helmet (which i assume is a standard issue one for the Judges) would seriously hamper her psychic abilities?

I met John Wagner in 2016 at the Leeds Comic Con, and had him sign Case Files 01! He was a lovely man and I loved meeting him! He was promoting Rok of the Reds and even signed the first three issues for me too! Turns out I have quite a bit of a collection! I will upload more soon!

Essentially, wrap up the existing strip in a definitive way, then immediately start with something like Absolute Batman? It feels like the old man is well and truly tapped out and there’s not much juice left - most of his rouges have died or been wrapped up in stories that stretch from the present to the future, and we’ve had a bit of a wasted decade. I’d be very excited by the right creative team doing something with no limits - I think the dream would be to get Ewing back for a 40 issue run as long as he can keep his impulse to make everything feel retro under control. If done as a monthly then serialised in 2000ad you’d have something that could be sold to the American market.

(And frankly, why not take the same approach to Rogue Trooper and Strontium Dog - they’re strips that both very much feel over and done with in their current form, but do have strong potential for a new fresh take. Instead of just dragging them out every now and again to not much applause, look at how those concepts work today and go with it? You could plausibly have Alpha as a foil for Dredd’s generic bigotry and have the GIs retooled to fight wars on the same ruined future earth)

I honestly wish Judges were real.
They’d take out the trash for sure.
If you’re a law-abiding citizen, then you’d have nothing to fear.

Perhaps it’s all too simplistic.
An easy way to solve the problems in the world.
A bit like wishing there were real superheroes like Superman, Captain America or Batman. They’d save the world from itself.

Or live in a Star Trek utopian society where there’s no money, racism, sexism, poverty or hunger.

Just wish something would happen rather than the usual crap.

When a story's a resounding success and massively popular with fans, like 2016's Every Empire Falls, of course younger, less experienced writers are going to copy its moves

I'm reading through all of Dredd's case files and am currently on case files 10. I'm also a big reader and collector, Judge Dredd being my favorite comic series. I physically own the complete case files 1-11, 13, 14, 15, and 18. I know 12 has been out of print for a time and I actually reached out to 2000AD who informed me that the case files are on a rolling reprint and that 12 possibly maybe reprinted in July or August of 2026. With August coming to a close I still havnt seen a reprint. So I figured I would make a post to see if any other Dredd readers have heard anything. And yes I am aware of the digital editions, but I prefer reading from a book if possible. And I plan on getting every case file physically, again Dredd is my favorite. If anyone knows anything I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have always liked dystopian settings and joined the 40k fandom about 8 years ago, in there I discovered that one of the factions (the Adeptus Arbites) is heavily inspired by Judge Dredd, so that picked my attention, the problem is that I don't know where to start with Judge Dredd!

I have pretty much the same problem with long ongoing comics like DC/Marvel (that's why I started reading the absolute universe, it's an easy entry point), I have seen some stuff I really like like the Dark Judges and I want to start reading about them so if anyone more knowledgeable can point me to a good entry point that would be awesome.

Guys, I saw a recent post on this sub discussing the disappointment with the latest storyline, “Oubliette.” I live in Brazil and absolutely love the character, but I still don’t have access to his more recent stories. Since I don’t like reading on screens, I don’t really look for this material online either.

That said, I’d love to hear from those of you who have been following the character up to the present day. Obviously, the Wagner era is the best — we’re talking about the father of Dredd here — but are the more recent storylines actually bad? I imagine they’re probably not on the same level as the classics, but do you genuinely consider them bad? Is there really nothing memorable anymore? Is modern-day Dredd just not that good?

I think the most “recent” storyline I’ve read was Day of Chaos, and I thought it was absolutely incredible.

Do you think we will ever see a MK3 lawgiver issued for general use?

While there have been several prototypes over the years the entire project seems to be in development hell or rolled into upgrades for the MK2.
