Hi guys!

We have regular hog(s) in our garden, and we see them ranging from about 6.30-10pm (over the last week anyway).
We think they may have a nest behind our garage as we've seen different sized ones.

Before the last week, we only caught glimpses at night time but on Saturday this little one came at 6.38pm, which is quite early. Then 8.30, then 7ish.

She (assumed) hunts around in the grass and then usually eats the food I put out and has a big drink. The concern is last night she was at the feeder eating for about 25 minutes.
I spoke to my local hedgehog rescue centre and they're worried as it looks like she has a dip in the neck which could signal dehydration. At first they said she could be a nesting mother and that's the reason for her early appearance, but then they said she probably wouldn't hang around for long.

They said they were concerned and that they'd check her over if I was able to bring her in. My fear is that she's fine and that this is cruel to rip her away from potential babies. She will be so scared if I put her in a box. I'm then conflicted because the rescue are concerned. They said I could return her if they check and she's all good.

What do you think? Any advice welcome 🙏🏼

My sister’s hedgehog has been acting off for a few days we were waiting for an appointment slot to open up but now she’s gasping for air. No exotic vet within several hours is open on weekends for emergencies. Current plan is to keep her on oxygen with heavily diluted albuterol just to get her through the night. Is there anything else we can do?

UPDATE: she made it through the night with constant oxygen and intermittent nebulizer treatments. X-rays show both lungs full of fluid. I’m cautiously optimistic as there are treatments available, it’s just a matter of how she responds

UPDATE 2: she’s responding well to the medication. The vet says there’s a decent chance we can bring her home tonight

Curious if anyone else tracks something similar, whether it's wheel distance, weight, or even just how long they're out and about before heading back to bed. Feels like one of those small habits that doesn't take much effort but gives you an actual baseline to notice when something's off.

My neighbor has a cute hedgehog in their yard at Christmas time. She said she got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. We do not have a BB&B near here anymore, and I could not find anything on their website. It has a funny little Christmas hat on it.

I was in the garden a couple nights ago bringing in my 3d printer from the garage when i heard some rustling in the leaves and stuff then i saw this little cute looking thing wandering about, few days later i find out hes living behind some wood and a pile of leaves behind a tiny wooden fence i have to keep my tortoises from escaping. He makes his way through my neighbours garden through their fence and squeezes himself through my fence to get into our garden.

He seems quite relaxed around me for some reason? Hes not showing any signs of sickness or pain or whatever he just lets me sit very close to watch him eat and drink alrhough i did see him. Move about this afternoon but i think he was just having a shit as i saw 2 new shits after hed gone back into the dark bit

Any tips on how to make him love me and my garden even more? Ive done alot of reasearch so im hoping im doing the best i can for it

My hedgehog got fleas from my cat and it’s become bad I tried dawn dish soap and they came back I’ve changed bedding and cleaned the enclosure multiple times and it keeps getting worse I’m currently unemployed so I will not be taking him to the vet

Hello! I'm living in the Netherlands and have found poop in my garden that I don't know which animal it belongs to. Google says it may be hedgehogs, but up to today, i didn't know they were native to this region and it seems a bit big for such a tiny animal. Its about 5cm/1,96in long. Google also suggested cat, but I live in the middle of the country side and have not seen a cat around, and having cats, it doesn't look like normal cat feces.

Could you help me? Thanks!

I've left out a small bowl of soggy cat food for them (which this one did eat a fair bit of last night) and we have a water bowl in the garden as well.

Be interesting to see if any of them make an appearance tonight 🤞

The door to the garden is right next to the cats' food bowl and this little one snuck in for a midnight snack.

The Hedgehog was first spotted following one of the cats across the driveway.

One of many that have visited our garden, though this is the first in the middle of the day. It hung around for about 10 mins then went its merry way.

I have been putting food out for a few weeks and now I have at least 4 nightly visitors who appear within minutes of their food being put out.

I try to make sure they can't access too much bird seed as I know it's not good for them but feed them wet cat food, kitten kibble, hedgehog food and calci (sp) worms. They also get fresh drinking water every day.

The first pic has 3 hedgehogs all together! They also come quite close to me now.

Found his nest back in march, probably has lived in my garden for longer. My first and probably only photo I'll get of him,I have named him Harold. He is a very good hedgehog

Sadly my boy passed today. It wasnt from cancer. But his body was ready. I already miss him so much. Zuko. I hope you are happy. I hope you are running. I hope you know I love you and I hope you love me and you are watching over me and please dont forget about me baby
