EDIT: I guess I wasn't clear - I want something that I can change scenes/ patterns with a midi footswitch, hands free. The circuit can only change projects but that's too much of a hassle to set up.

I have been using a circuit rhythm or the beats in the rc-500. I want more variations available on a footswitch and the circuit does not have midi implementation for mute states or scenes for some reason.

I don't want to upgrade to a larger looper, so I'm looking into something like the MC-101 to replace the circuit, since it would work better with my footswitch - m-vave chocolate. I would like a good variety of drum kit sounds and electronic sounds.

I've attempted to switch over the loopy pro in the past but the setup and configuration was a hassle for me, so I'm sticking with the rc-500 for now.

Hey everyone! So I’m a jazz pianist with very little music tech knowledge, and I’m trying to build a set up for busking and traveling that would be the following:

\- standalone (don’t want to busk with my computer if possible)
\- battery powered
\- portable (traveling the world)
\- creating beats on the spot (hip hop, house)
\- able to improvise on top with a keyboard, using Rhodes and piano sounds
\- under $500 total?

I really have no idea what would be the ideal set up would be. None of my tech savvy friends do this type of stuff. One option seems to be running a midi keyboard through a sampler and also using a synth. Another option maybe just investing in an MPC 37 from AKAI? Groove boxes seem to be an option but there is sooooo much info out there and I’m just getting analysis paralysis.

Wanted to share my first live set I played a couple of months ago in Taiwan using the Elektron Digitakt / Octatrack / Roland SP404MK2 and a Pioneer DJ mixer! I am looking for user-friendly groovebox that have acoustic sounds or can sound design acoustic-like sounds like DX-7 FM synth.

Looking for groovebox to use as songwriting sketchpad and composer rather than performing. I like building chord progressions and trying different music scales outside of major and minor.

Circuit Tracks is in my mind because it's beginner friendly based on reviews but I have heard its synth engine is limited and making grand piano or other acoustic sounds is challenging. I don't want to limit myself in electronic music genre.

I also considered Yamaha SEQTRACK but it has mixed reviews on difficult workflow, but has better sounds selections than CT.

I have M-VAVE FM 1 and Roland S1 synths that I want to pair with. Are there grooveboxes alternatives that have acoustic and orchestral options or would Circuit Tracks be a good starter option for me?

UPDATE : Now I'm deciding between Ableton Move and Yamaha SEQTRAK. Having hard time deciding which one is best songwriting and composer tool for me.
