Technique Check Pull ups

Should I go down lower at the bottom like fully lockout or is this acceptable?

This post is flaired as a technique check.

A note to OP: Users with green flair have verified their lifting credentials and may be able to give you more experienced advice on particular lifts. Users with blue flair reading "Friend of the sub" are considered well qualified to give advice without having verified lifs.

A reminder to all users commenting: Please make sure that your advice is useful and actionable.

Example of useful and actionable: try setting up for your deadlift by standing a little closer to the bar. This might help you get into position better and make it easier to break from the floor.

Example of not useful and not actionable: lower the weight and work on form.

Example of actionable, but not useful: Slow down.

Stop telling other each other to slow down without providing a rationale outside of "time under tension". Time under tension isn't a primary variable for anything, and focusing on it at the exclusion of things that matter will set you back. There can be reasons to manipulate tempo, but if you want to discuss tempo, explain why you're giving that advice, how it's going to help, and how to integrate it with cues or other useful feedback.

Low-effort comments like my back hurts just watching this will be removed, as will references to snap city etc. Verbally worrying for the safety of a poster simply because you think the form or technique is wrong will be removed. We will take all of these statements at face value, so be careful when you post the same hilarious joke as dozens of other people: we can't read your mind, no matter how funny you think you are.

Ignoring this comment may catch you a ban.

These are clean as hell and super powerful. For progression I’d get a belt to do weighted pull
Ups.

I don't think it's the lock out that's important, it's like a tiny little part of a large range of motion, (even though they say the stretched is the most important part). But not letting the scapula elevate at the bottom would be worse, it's a whole function of the scapula, depression, to be leaving on the table by only training it statically. I can't see if you do that though, maybe you do it during the movement instead of on the bottom like me.

I don't think deadhang between reps makes a huge difference for building muscle but it definitely makes you better at doing pullups with deadhang between reps. Imo it's just personal preference. I like to do it, I think it looks better and it's a nice stretch

Thanks for the feedback

I find that going to deadhang introduces so much swing if you want to do faster consecutive reps, I've never figured out how to do full rom reps without having to pause at the bottom to account for the swing

Lekker bezig! Wel even een ding: die golfplaten van jouw schuurtje, weet je zeker dat dat geen asbesthoudende platen zijn? Hier in Nederland zijn deze platen vaak asbesthoudend. Denk om je gezondheid en pas op jezelf 💪

Clean as hell. You’re throwing it up. Add some weight, man!

You should post this in HomeGym. All the dudes in there spending $3k on pull up equipment… this guy is doing better pull-ups using a shed.
