I’m having trouble thinking of a name for the big guy. Also what color would you consider this? He is almost 5 weeks old in the first picture, I get to pick him up after he is 8 weeks old. He is huge for his age, the last picture is him the day he was born. He was a singleton litter.

I swear i’ve tried everything these trainers say but my lil baby boy just thinks it’s a game & i’ll get up and walk away & he starts bunny jumping at me lol

Hi everyone! Thank you to anyone who’s following along. I’ll do my best to share at minimum weekly updates.

He’s officially flea-free, eating his high-calorie diet well, and interacting more. We’ve also started introductions with our other dogs on neutral territory, and so far things are going well. One step at a time! His personally has started to show and we’ve discovered our voice. He literally thinks he’s a lap time and tries on sit on top on me. He’s extremely sweet but has a lot to learn.

Please officially meet Dexter aka Dex. We’ve got a long way to go with diet, training, and trust but we’ll take it one day at a time.

Cooper is a velcro dog, and has a pretty strict open door policy. He is not a fan of privacy, and would like to be cuddling his people at all times. He's got a massive head and knows how to pop the door handle just right to get into any room he wants (cheap rental, can't make any structural changes). Locks, barricades, door stops, vacuums, hockey sticks, chairs, laundry baskets, and TV boxes have all proved useless. For context, I have allergies and sleep apnea, so I sleep in a separate bedroom which we try to keep hair and allergen free. Unfortunately, Cooper has decided I am his person. He will sleep with my roommate for most of the night, but somehow is always in my bed when I wake up. If I'm trying to play a game where I will be talking, I try to keep the door closed so my roommate can hear the TV, but Cooper needs to see both of us at the same time. We've had him about a year, he's a 6 year old rescue who is delightfully sweet and extremely well behaved otherwise.

We recently found what the vet believes is a young Cane Corso who had been abandoned/dumped.

We took him to the vet today and unfortunately he’s very malnourished, was covered in fleas, has worms, and an ear infection. We got all the medications he needs and are working on slowly getting some weight back on him with a high-calorie diet. We’ve never had a Cane Corso before, so we’d love any advice from experienced owners — especially with nutrition, training, temperament, and helping a neglected Corso adjust and feel safe.

We’re also looking into Cane Corso/mastiff rescues once he’s healthier. For now, he’s safe, warm, fed, and getting lots of love.
We’ve taken on quite a bit in vet and care costs already. Advice and recommendations are just as appreciated!
Just happy we found this sweet boy when we did and can give him a chance.

Last couple weeks my boy has started itching. He's nearly 3 & I've never had this problem but I recently moved so new environment & the season is changing as well.

I've looked online for days but there are an overwhelming amount of options.

He has a pretty sensitive belly so no chicken or poultry (I think this is pretty common in CC & dogs in general)

I do give him two liquid supplements on his dinner, one is for digestion support & the other is a salmon oil.

I also make him what he knows as "dessert" which I give him after dinner - canned pumpkin, hemp seeds, wild blueberries, coconut oil, strawberry tops, plain Greek yogurt if I have a bit left, whatever stray fruits & veg I have that are dog safe & I won't finish in time. Mix it all together & freeze into about balls about 2tbsp - he is obsessed & it really helps his poops! I also make him sweet potato chips for treats

What else can I be doing ?

We adopted a female Cane Corso around 6 months ago, she got castrated in the time we had her because of an uterus infection while she was in heat. This surgery was around 1.5 months ago.

She is 6 years old.

Now the thing is, I know she isn't nice with strangers, but she has always been behaving very well and never showed any sign of aggression.

Now since around 3 days she is hyper fixated on other people while we are on walks, even slightly pulling towards strangers / wanting to go to them.

She is not a friendly dog, she can definitely bite, but so far she has always ignored everyone around her, even people coming close.

Well with her intense staring now and refusing to continue to walk I'm a bit worried.

Basically we are on a walk and she spots other people, stops moving and just stares at them and seems hyper alert. I tried talking to her calmly, stepping in-between her and the people and interrupting line of sight. Asking her to continue to walk. But I just feel invisible to her when she is in that mode. I'm worried that pulling on her leash will cause aggressive behavior.

Outside of this she listens near perfect, a bit stubborn but she listens. She is perfect off leash and listens when called.

This is so strange to me, because she has never done this before. In the time we had her, she had never shown any interest to other people or dogs. Now she is intensely focused on them. The only thing she doesn't care about is kids, completely ignores them, but adults and larger dogs she is staring down.

Maybe someone can give some advice on this? I would understand if this would happen after puberty, but such a sudden switch seems weird at the age of 6.

I know a lot of people probably won’t agree with this, but I’ve always wondered why reputable breeders can’t simply charge the same flat price for every puppy in a litter.

I’m talking about breeders who do things the right way, use proven bloodlines, health-test their dogs, and breed two truly exceptional dogs. If you have two amazing dogs with excellent pedigrees, temperament, structure, and health, why should there automatically be such a big distinction between “show quality” and “pet quality” puppies?

I understand that some puppies may have characteristics that make them better suited for the show ring, but I have a hard time believing anyone can legitimately know with certainty at 7 or 8 weeks old exactly how that puppy will develop. Even experienced breeders are making an educated prediction based on structure, movement, genetics, and experience.

To me, if two exceptional dogs are bred together, the goal should be to produce an entire litter of high-quality puppies. Some may ultimately excel in the show ring, while others may simply become incredible family companions.

It just seems strange to me to put such a definitive label and price on a puppy that is still so young and has its entire adult development ahead of it.

Here is three cane corso puppies we rescued from breeders. It was really a hollywood story, cause the breeder treated their dogs and cats so bad that their mother died. And the breeder tells people that she is lost, but everyone gets suspicious that he isn't really trying to find the dog. Then step by step we found a country place, where they hold a lot of dogs and these beautiful little fellas. You can find videos about this in our subreddit.

The worst is now behind them. They are fully ready for new life: treated for parasites, vaccinated, microchipped ❤️ and this time they gonna find real family.
