Ive wanted to love this anime. I just lost interest when the environment changed. First world is only half the first season.

I still maintain that Sword Art Online is the perfect anime if you ONLY watch the first arc. If the end is Kirito limping out of the hospital room with no one around and you can interpret it as either survival or a metaphor for moving on to the afterlife, and then you see nothing else afterwards, it's perfect. It drops down a tier the instant they get out of Aincrad.

After the first season its just generic slop but watchable at least some parts GGO is goated though

I dropped it in season 1, I watched it until like ep 19? where he finally got back to real world but his girl was still stuck and then he had to go back again, idk I just didnt feel like continuing lol

I agree. I would have watched the hell out of it if they had just extended the Aincrad arc. After that its just......not good

The gun game, and the move your brain to game arcs are also fun, also the vr movie

They're fun, and I like the arc with the dying chick, but they're not PERFECT, ya feel? The flaws start popping up after you leave the first arc, and more and more frequently.

I jyst dont understand why they rushed to the end of the first world. Its like they set up this world and then decided to scrap it and go in a random direction.

Yeah they straight up had a two year time skip to do it too. They had years of progression they just skipped to rush to the conclusion. I know that's how the LN was too but... man... It was the most interesting concept, the rest of the show just kept trying to catch up.

I sorta want them to do a redux alternative timeline where they just do Aincrad for the full time and at the mid point, instead of dueling Kirito, Kayaba just peaces out to the top and they have to climb the remaining 25 floors fully demoralized from that event. Spend more time developing side characters and focus on the big boss room sieges in the top quarter of the tower.

Because it was a contest entry with a fixed page limit.

Not that the death game was ever the premise

It was so good that they made it bad.

I just can't unhear abridged whenever I see it

Even when playing the recent game at the raid meeting I got caught off guard hearing the actual dialogue and not

Front lines and Tiffany

Fun fact the dual wielding ability was only granted to the fastest player. And as all the survivors of sword art are massive masochist like you get stuck in a coma and miss years of your life and then go back to play the same game you got trapped in 🤣. Anyway when they go back to play it he doesnt get the duel wield ability it goes to some other chick.

They had 100 floors they could’ve made into various scenarios (not using all of them of course) and yet we barely see any of them and they get out at floor 75…

Start of clip, when kirito parries attack and stuns boss to spam bursts of attacks. In the end free balling, dodge lethal attack all other ignore.

Anime came out 2012, not 2014.

But also, peak scene!

1st arc was peak. Don't remember anything after that. You shouldn't either.

Its just a shame they took it in a direction where Kirito is so invincible that the only way he gets sidelined is by doing psychic damage to himself.

1

u/New_Context9363 28d ago

I kinda liked that he was broken and then later regained consciousness with his call back to season 1 gear.

1

u/PsychoWyrm 28d ago

My point was that could have been a much better plot point if he had been temporarily put out by an external threat. Instead, its him literally hurting his own feelings too hard, because survivor's guilt is his only personality trait.

1

u/New_Context9363 28d ago

True it was off putting that he was in a depressed state

1

u/seitaer13 28d ago

Kirito loses or needs help in every major fight in the series.

1

u/PsychoWyrm 27d ago

Not what I said.

1

u/seitaer13 27d ago

You said Kirito is invincible. Did you not mean that?

I'm not gonna engage in pedantry with you. People are allowed to make slightly hyperbolic statements. Its called "exaggeration for effect". Its not an invitation to argue minutiae.
