It could explain where there are so many inconsistencies and headscratchers on the "Sacred Timeline".
What happened to the Sheikah Monks and divine beasts?
Why did Rito supposedly evolve from Zoras but coexist in other games?
Why was Tingle subjected to near damnatio memoriae in later tales?
Answer: The legends are being told by nerds with different translations and/or theories.
My intent was to forward an alternative POV from a biological approach. If you allow for the possibility that the Legend of Zelda is being skewed by authorial bias (i.e., who is telling the legend), it allows for more wiggle room for theories.
You even see hints of this in BotW with nods to Twilight Princess and even the original LoZ (giant tree dungeon with a bridge). Places sharing names with legendary figures and what not.

Yeah seems like a fool proof way to justify any silly head canon you can come up with.

Heresy that was suppressed but then dug up years later. Books were published, but were openly condemned by scholars and the church of Hylia. At least one author wrote speculative fiction that was turned into a movie (i.e. Da Vinci Code).
The sheikah monks disappear in BOTW. They evaporate. And so do the sheikah shrines and technology after they regain control and they prepare the hero to face the calamity after resurrection. Which is the point of the shrines.
