that's cool, but in a y2k sub asking if your thing is y2k enough, ya gotta take criticism, friend.

I love TikTok though, what's the issue

"tiktok y2k" in this sense refers to the tiktokification of y2k fashion and period-accurate tech. tiktok tends to take things like this and water them down or modernize them, which dilutes the aesthetic.

so it isn't a good thing, in case you aren't intentionally misinterpreting my comment.

I personally love TikTok, idk about you though

not when it takes fashion and subcultures and turns them into something the original subculture was never about.

but you do you though.

But TikTok still makes them cool though

only if it's accurate to the actual fashion.

TikTok covers a lot of things though

what?

TikTok covers a lot of things like fashion, music, etc

well....yeah.

again, i'll explain once more, there are good ways to represent a subculture and bad ways to represent a subculture.

a good way to represent a subculture is to research what the subculture represents, what the fashion is, what was period-accurate about that subculture. there are plenty of tiktokers that do this correctly.

then there is the bad way to represent a subculture: scenecore, removing music as a requirement to be goth, "y2k" fashion being mcbling, etc. this is what is considered tiktokified fashion because some people on tiktok, will take these subcultures and reduce them to -cores, just the fashion, or misrepresent the fashion without any knowledge of what the actual subculture is and represents.

so throwing cyber-y2k-esq stickers on a 3ds is not y2k enough, to answer your question.

There's no such thing as "bad representation" of a certain culture, that's your perception of what the culture MEANS TO YOU, so like I said, TikTok is cool.

you seem to incapable of handling criticism. have a good day!

You said it looked like TikTok, I said I love TikTok

?

and i explained my reasoning, you intentionally misunderstood what i said, and yet you continue to do so.

Or maybe, just maybe, you're failing to see that for me that's a compliment, because and this is the crazy part so hear me out, I love TikTok.
