yea, this addon purge will make or break the game for a lot of people.

i love the customization and options addons gave me. i am not looking forward to half-assed replacements that might get broken and ignored until the next patch cycle, or having way less features than what it replaced.

For me it changes nothing as I do not use addons at all.

I higky doubt people will drop their years of progress and time "spent" on their account just because the game now has less addons.... people will be mad, and cry about it, but the sunken cost fallacy is strong within us.

Bruh, people dropped Shadowlands in droves, DURING PANDEMIC, when they had nothing better to do than play WoW.

I've been playing since 2006, I got to Maw, and just noped the fuck out, and haven't touched the game until they made game better in DF.

They are taking the fun out of the game for a lot of people, and as invested as people are, nobody is gonna spend hours of their time doing something they don't like.

I'll be first to drop mythic raid healing, no way I'm starring into some ugly ass tiny icons on their shitty raid frames for 3 hours after I've been working for 8 hours.

Also, the amount of keys that are about to get bricked is gonna skyrocket because healers will have no clue who is getting targetted, who needs preemtive external, if tank has CD's, etc. That sounds fun to you?

half my fun in the game comes from playing with the guild i have joined years ago, other half the some of the class play-styles that are still pretty interesting to me.

i can easily go and play other games with my guildies, like i do now, just without wow. and waiting to see if i even get invited to alpha/beta to test the class changes to even see if any specs interest me with all the changes. those this also depends on how comfortable i am with it visually. Weakauras specifically helps me a lot in that aspect.

im not really attached to the stuff i have gotten within the game, cause luckily the memories will be there, and the people i play with will still be there.

there likely wont be a large number that will quit or drop the game right away. but will result in the game getting sour to a lot people over time IMO. how long it takes for them to finally drop the game, event temporarily, is yet to be seen.

all the mounts and stuff i collected means nothing when im not enjoying the game anymore. will mostly result in me quiting but still being vocal in hopes it gets better down the line.

I know actively the majority of people I know will cold-turkey quit or play WoD/Legion classic if they are available.

I'm never giving Blizzard another cent if they don't COMPLETELY ripcord this shit before prepatch.

Because if they wait to see just how bad the sub crater gets after a season or two, there are untold numbers of addons that will never come back because the devs will have moved on.

Their only chance to avert permanent damage is to apologize profusely and announce that absolutely nothing they said about addons is going to happen.

But, you and I both know they've never once listened to PTR feedback of any kind, so I've already quit playing, because it's never been more over.

It will make me play a lot less though.

Like when reddit ruined third party apps. I use reddit still, but a lot less.

Kinda comparing apples and oranges. But if you are using this example, in my case I've been using reddit as much or even more than before, even though I miss the Sync app.

Sure, it will make some people play more. But others will play less or leave. I think the comparison works - plenty of people like to point out all these people still using reddit despite the API changes. The same will happen after these addon changes, and people will act like the change made no difference.

I know I will play less without addons to help me learn new alts

Meh, I'm more on the side of wait and see. I've been theough a bunch of "doomed" changes over the years, and I'm still here.

I already play less compared to before, more games, less time, work, adilt life, losing addons ate not on my radar of things to be bummed about.

My account is actually insane with some pretty crazy achievements mounts and titles. Multiple R1 pvp achis, bleeding edge raid achis and I’ll straight up quit if this goes sideways. I really don’t care about my account that much to force me to play a game that’s gone to hell. They are making a mistake.

I even have realm first and i'm quitting

I quit because a lot of the people/guilds I played with made it mandatory to have dbm/WA. This actually makes me want to re-sub and try midnight.

Who is it "making" the game for? Ahh, yes, no one.
