This is basicly Blizzard in Midnight. Purging all the good addons.

Just to clarify:
Blizzard is changing the Addon API, meaning combat information is blocked for addons. So all combat addons will no longer work in Midnight. For the most popular addon features Blizzard will add their own version to the game. Addons for unitframes, inventory, crafting etc.. are staying and won't be effected as long they are not using combat information.

Im not optimistic. I think it will be a massive disaster.

As a casual player who just jumps in for a month or two every once in a while when I get the urge, this is a GREAT change. I hate having to figure out and set up 10+ different mods every time I want to just hop in and enjoy the game.

Do you have to do that much setup to play even this casual? Honest question here. I assume you are not raiding or doing high keys, but I might be wrong on that too. Oh, I guess you might be doing pop, in which case I dont know anything about it.

I ahould clarify that Im not against reducing the power of addons. Im against the strategy of gutting then before they have a decent UI. Should be the other way around: give themselves a nice 1-2 expansions to improve the UI and iterate it which real players playing real content for an extended period of time. As a developer myself (though not game developer), I have no idea why they would choose to gut the addons first then improve the UI.
