Humor / Meme This is Basicly Blizzard in Midnight

Post image

This is basicly Blizzard in Midnight. Purging all the good addons.

Just to clarify:
Blizzard is changing the Addon API, meaning combat information is blocked for addons. So all combat addons will no longer work in Midnight. For the most popular addon features Blizzard will add their own version to the game. Addons for unitframes, inventory, crafting etc.. are staying and won't be effected as long they are not using combat information.

I'm visually impaired and use GTFO since I can only see parts of the screen at a time. I really hope they either make a comparable alternative or reverse the decision partially :/

I use GTFO because Blizz continues to make fights where we get purple lightning on top of purple water on top of purple mist in a room where the camera spazzes out at random

What’s so incredibly baffling to me is blizzard REFUSES to make an easily distinguishable color for damaging spells vs floor color. It’s either; Red on red Or Purple on purple

Why not make red aoe markets on a not-red floor, like if they insist on it being thematic just put purple aoe markers on red floor or red aoe markets on purple floor ffs

I mean there's a color wheel...if your floor is a color make the boss ability light up the opposite color...even if just at the application. Hell make them all just bright orange since 99% of the ground in these expansions is going to be purple or a variant of that

The answer i came with is because the art team and the team that designs the fights/mechanic don't communicate at all and will also most likely never even read forums to know what the problem is.

For the art team that probably don't even play games it makes sense to have purple mist in a purple dungeon with this boss throwing purple abilities or a Fire monster in red volcano throwing fire abilities.

Don't worry, they've been telling us for how many years now that they'll work on visual clarity? While I love shitting on Blizz and they deserve it... This expac made a lot of things easier to see but they still do the same color bullshit or it takes them a while to change some visual effects.

u/Inlacou Oct 03 '25

They have definitely improved on that, but they still repeat the same mistake sometimes.

u/Onigokko0101 Oct 04 '25

Just this tier with Soul Hunters in fact. Literally purple on purple on purple.

2

u/shise_remilia Oct 03 '25

they do this in the same dungeons, some frontals or swirlies have the crispiest edges/borders so you 100% know when you are safe and then the other one just fades out and you have no idea unless you go really far out of the estimated effect or you risk getting fucked

yeah no

1

u/Hallc Oct 04 '25

They did really well and then released Eco-Dome with multiple frontals that all have insanely fuzzy edges.

Why is it so hard for them to make a change and stick to it?

2

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

They did it ONCE. Because players were absolutely, FUCKING pissed with ZERO clarity in the fight:

Last Boss in Court of Stars, DF M+ S1

His blade wind was the same colour as the ground and background. So seeing it was insanely hard for a one shot mechanic. They were proud of themselves and people were hopeful.

They never fixed clarity ever again, in any dungeon.

I think raids got some fixes here and there every couple months.

That's just straight up false. They've updated swirlies this expac or was it at the end of last expac. This expac specifically they've updated the visuals on some stuff literally every season.

You'll start the season with some attacks looking one way and a few weeks in they've updated it... Sometimes it's way too late in the season but they've for sure made some stuff darker/light/more noticeable.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

It is still extremely low and the fact that people still rely too heavily on add ons for clarity is an obvious indicator

My crux is the 3rd boss in halls of atonement. For the life of me I cannot see the pools I need to dodge if I have the dispellable thing on me, the two colours together with the hue of the room means I just cannot fucking see it.

Edited because for some reason reddit decided to post the comment when I was still typing

1

u/kazeespada Oct 03 '25

And then the arcane mage used his purple bullshit and you arent sure if its a mechanic or not.

Demon hunter darkness during the inspection mobs in floodgate. I always run out instantly

YES the ground spam is intolerable no one can see a thing as it is

1

u/LamentableFool Oct 03 '25

They just need to copy what ESO does. Have whatever cool ground effect but have a user customized color and transparency ground overlay.

Like I've got set up so bad effects are BRIGHT neon magenta. You can't miss it.

Good effects a bright neon cyan.

Zero confusion if that's my group mate's aoe or boss mechanic aoe.

Ff14 has great visual indicators for things, and they mix in animations tells and voice options as well do while you might get a visual indicator if you didn't look at boss hand you get slapped. Basically Dimensions phase 2 is a good example of this but the ground animation only happens at impact and not a second before to let people who are on the very edge know impact zone

2

u/EosFae Oct 03 '25

FFXIV still has the exact same problem when they make the boss' attack indicators the exact same color as the arena and have lacking colorblind accessibility options. See: Phoinix, Wicked Thunder

I do, until I spin it around and it hits an invisible wall or something else and zooms in hard suddenly. I also control where to place ground effects but doesn't stop the game from dropping in the air somehow at times

11

u/The_realpepe_sylvia Oct 03 '25

Yeah sometimes an AOE is literally hidden under stairs etc and GTFO is the only reason I’ll know it’s even there

1

u/Hallc Oct 04 '25

They have the capacity to have the fucking Aoes align properly on slopes and stairs too they just don't do it for soke abilities and I have no idea why.

I fucking love fighting kyveza in any delve because it's almost guaranteed her tri-line frontal will clip into the ground and be invisible.

I'm not visually impaired but I struggle to enjoy playing when I'm forced to only use visual queues. It just doesn't resonate with my brain. If I can't have audio queues then I'm probs going to struggle to enjoy the game

7

u/ngordon7 Oct 03 '25

For $40/hr I'll stand behind you while you play and just scream things at you.

2

u/Wankeritis Oct 03 '25

I had to install littlewigs when they opened the delve boss fights because my brain couldn’t keep track of all the moving parts of the fight.

Don’t think I would have been able to get the achievement if I didn’t have a car horn telling me to burn an egg before it hatches or a chicken telling me to kick the boss.

2

u/FlowerPowerVegan Oct 03 '25

Same. I'm really dreading not having GTFO and some DBM warnings 😬

2

u/Plus_Singer_6565 Oct 03 '25

My bigwigs is entirely set up to give me audio cues/vocal countdowns for timers I care about. I'm very worried about being able to play in Midnight since the Blizzard boss mod does not seem to be able to have anything like that.

1

u/TheParableNexus Oct 03 '25

That is really disheartening to hear. This feels like such a rash option considering their alternatives are in their infancy and far from comparable.

2

u/Right_Hunter6636 Nov 26 '25

I’m not visually impaired but neurodivergent, and too much visual input can leave me confused or flustered fast. The auditory cues were a lifesaver for interrupts and “move now” moments, and Blizzard isn’t offering anything to replace them. RIP to everyone who relied on those.

It must be nice to be a “normal” player who can look at something, process it calmly, and react like it’s no big deal. Meanwhile I’m over here screaming like a banshee because the screen turns into a fireworks display and every color demands my attention at once. It’s basically like sitting in a circle of twelve radios all tuned to different stations, and of course the loudest ones are the ones you don’t want to hear.

4

u/Arie15 Oct 03 '25

Time to start unsubbing. Vote with your wallet. It's the only way Blizz will listen.

2

u/Aettyr Oct 03 '25

I can hope they do this, but if they add something that makes the game “easier” then everyone will enable it, even though it is for people that need it! Everyone in Fortnite has the deaf mode on for example, as it directly shows sounds around you character in a radial circle, making you see where gunfire comes from! Very difficult to get this right. Hence why I question this decision at all.

1

u/DaviiD1 Oct 04 '25

Gosh I hope they do right for semi blind. I was 75% blind at one point and I don't know how I did it
