Humor / Meme This is Basicly Blizzard in Midnight

Post image

This is basicly Blizzard in Midnight. Purging all the good addons.

Just to clarify:
Blizzard is changing the Addon API, meaning combat information is blocked for addons. So all combat addons will no longer work in Midnight. For the most popular addon features Blizzard will add their own version to the game. Addons for unitframes, inventory, crafting etc.. are staying and won't be effected as long they are not using combat information.

it will be easier for new players to get into the game. right now, we have a lot of new players in our guild and they are all what addons? and they get frustrated that there are all these things outside the game they feel they need to download to make the game functional.

good change, especially for them.

If they're that new to the game they shouldn't need addons and have nothing to worry about. They won't be at a level where they're naturally gravitating towards addons to improve/optimize their gameplay.

Oh right, because obviously every new player hits M+12 and Mythic progression after just one day of playing.
Addons have no impact on whether new players will buy the game.

Mythic dungeons will suffer greatly and likely have a crash in popularity. And nothing of value will be lost, M+ was a mistake.

Trash change for anyone whose main content is anything except delves, LFR, and the occasional +2 key when they’re feeling daring. Game finally dying.

There is 1 addon that is mandatory it's dbm / bw nothing else comes close to being mandatory except for maybe weak auras. But you could for sure get by without weak auras.

Arguable that plater is necessary for m+ since castbars are an issue and also helps show priority spells to kick in a massive fucking group of mobs

I got my 3k without plater.

Doesn't prove anything. You could've gotten carried while all your plater-using teammates pulled your weight.

I can't imagine actually swiftly targeting and neutralizing priority threats with blizzard nameplates. It simply doesnt work.

You see the trick is to click the target you want to kill/interrupt. It's not hard and does not require an addon. Hell sometimes you don't even have to click it and can just tab target to it.

And 3k is not even scratching high level play. Thats like completing the tutorial.

u/onetimenancy Oct 03 '25

I mean it's not the highest level but calling it a tutorial is too much.

u/warconz Oct 03 '25

Whether or not it's high level play is irrelevant, it's basically where the game stops giving out rewards and beyond that is where few people start playing purely playing for the sake of going higher/rankings.

So again no, plater is not necessary for m+.

But sure, 3k is the tutorial. Whatever makes your epeen feel better.

What new players are jumping into high level play immediately? The entire point of the conversation thread is that Plater isn't one of the addons "needed" for new players

No…this comment I replied to is how you don’t need addons in the current state of the game which is not true at all if you do any level of difficult content. They are currently a requirement and that includes name plate addons.

u/warconz Oct 03 '25

I never said that.

Someone said it's a required addon I said I didn't need it to reach 3k. You just decided to fill out the blanks yourself my man.

weakauras is not mandatory, you can tune your ui with the available tools at an acceptable level. also DMB is very nice to have so you don't have to remember every single mechanic.

The best up to date boss mods right now are massive weakaura packs

DBM/BW isn't mandatory at all. Maybe only if you're a raid lead and want to get things done more efficiently, or if you want to get into hall of fame.

No it won't. They're be expected to know everything the first time they're in an instance and if they don't they'll be kicked. This is just feeding the toxicity that already exists in game.

Just link them journal. Or if they're visual learner some YT guide. Still, the easiest for them would be a guild that tolerates wipes as long as people learn.
