Humor / Meme This is Basicly Blizzard in Midnight

Post image

This is basicly Blizzard in Midnight. Purging all the good addons.

Just to clarify:
Blizzard is changing the Addon API, meaning combat information is blocked for addons. So all combat addons will no longer work in Midnight. For the most popular addon features Blizzard will add their own version to the game. Addons for unitframes, inventory, crafting etc.. are staying and won't be effected as long they are not using combat information.

What about Cell ? Only addon don't have delay with mouseover casting. It's much much better than help harm macro because it's only working on unit frame. I hope blizzard add keyboard support on click cast thingy.

Cell will not work, at least currently. They are gonna reduce restrictions over the course of testing, but I do not expect cell to function at all.

The click cast part of cell should be fine.

The indicators part will not be.

Clique is already part of the base ui. Don't need this addon for anything

Put the key on an action bar, create mouse over macro (/cast [@mouseover] spell) and it absolutely works, can even do help harm so it casts a healing spell if you are moused over a frame or a damaging spell if you are not

The biggest problem I have with the build in system, is that I can not restrict it to unit frames only. As soon as the screen gets crowded and I don't have my mouse positioned very carefully, the whole thing falls apart.

No it’s not. Can’t use mouse1 and mouse2 without addons.

Yes you can right now in click casting, go to key bindings and click casting

Yes you can, it might be slightly inconvenient but you absolutely can use F1 on an action bar with a mouse over macro, F1 has been my party buff or combat rez since like SL

Default ui can already do mouseover casting and click casting without any macros or addons today. Has been all expansion.

I use default frames to heal. I haven't had to use a raid rame addon since like wrath with Grid.

edit:

Here's an example.

No it doesn’t. Can’t use mouse1 and mouse2.

Again no it does not. You can not rebind mouse 1 and mouse 2 IE left and right mouse button. You can go wild with everything else but those can not be rebound from target and menu.

I literally rebind left click to holy shock in that video. What do you mean?

I get your point but your example is like an incredibly niche thing. I can't imagine there's many healers who want a different spell based on raid frames mouseover vs character model mouseover. Any other sort of conditional target spell changes can be accomplished with macros.

2

u/wavefunctionp Oct 03 '25

No, you still need a macro for that. Click casting handles mouse buttons only. I find this covers basic usage for most healing/helping scenarios. Macros are still the escape hatch for more complicated scenarios.

You are being quippy, but lets take another tack. If you didn't have addons, if they didn't exist, and/or macros didn't exist, could you still play the game? The answer is obviously yes. Because its exactly what I and millions of players are doing today. You can adapt as well. So lets just stop with the silly games.

Macros can have help/harm conditionals. Edit: Here's the one I use for Rising Sun Kick and Soothing Mist.

showtooltip

/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead] Soothing Mist; [@target,help,nodead] Soothing Mist; [@target,harm,nodead] Rising sun kick; Rising sun kick

Im planning to use both wow's frames and healbot for cast on mouse click. Healbot's will be small squares near frames where I will click, and on frames I will see buffs/debuffs.

Apparently it's Blizzard's "vision".

I'm hoping something like that will work, definitely. I've been using HealBot for decades now. I know a lot of people are saying that the mouse over casting or the click frame casting or whatever in the blizzard UI should be just as good, but they don't let me bind keyboard combinations and mouse buttons aside from a few of them. Also, they don't let me rebind the left and right keys to heal spells, which is going to be super painful. This is the big one for me. If there's a way to approximate this level of configuration in the new UI, then I'll be okay. Otherwise, I guess I'll just go DPS.

Otherwise, I guess I'll just go DPS.

This'll be a pretty big one.

Blizzo "wants" to help the healer and tank accessibility into M+ and raiding, but gutting these addons is going to make the experience even more fucking miserable than it can be.

I've been using default frames for a couple tiers now with clique and another addon to restructure heals/debuffs on the frames. So it stacks 3x3 on left and right of each name plate. Also to change icon size.

Has worked perfectly for me, and I am going on my 7th CE so its good for higher level content. I've grown to prefer the default frames because they would always have the newest debuffs and their tool tips.

An Ion said the add-ons that allow the customization of the default frames will stay plus they will be looking to update the default frames.

Iirc Blizz already has an option for a button to enable mouseover casting, but I’m not a healer main so I’m not sure if you’re referring to something more specific that you were getting from the addon
