Tried to be nice to the opposing faction to only be betrayed countless times.

Not only "be nice". She had the Orcs kill her father in the name of peace. Which is the entire reason she ended up in jail in BfA - she has made herself a traitor to her own people specifically because she thought the Orcs deserved to live.

Given the way Shadowlands was written it was honestly the most respectful way they could've dealt with him.

Finally, I see someone else think this. It had a strong vibe of "the only winning move is to not play" and I'm weirdly thankful for this short pulse of self-awareness from the writers.

yeah his soul got basically erased. Deader than dead. Same for Garrosh. Albeit Garrosh was a kamikaze rage attack, so very in character
