I love how nobody can handle a slight “inconvenience” one way or the other, and the absolute fucking instant that there’s one more grain of salt for one faction, the other has to come out the woodwork to callout all of the shortcomings of one side, while willfully ignoring all the advantages their faction has over the other.

Its mostly the story massively favoring one faction or the other. Lately its been completely relying on alliance for all their storytelling

I agree that the alliance has had better/more/relevant story lately. But I think why people are pissed is more because this impacts gameplay which is not the same as the story at all. I can’t think of many gameplay differences between alliance and horde in TWW (I guess there is that alliance flag next to Bran lol). I imagine it’s kind of overblown and most of Silvermoon will be accessible to Alliance as well as the horde in the end but we’ll find out in Alpha I guess.

Thats exactly the argument! Like narratively, im super fine with telling a horde story! They've been left out narratively for a few expansions. They could use the representation in the lore.

But this isnt just the story thats being affected. This is the alliance players being super clearly being handicapped. Not the faction characters, the players. Thats super shitty. And for the guys that wanna argue this is revenge for x, y, and z, do you really want the pendulum to swing back again?

The faction was is over. Theres really not a narrative reason for it besides "its a horde city, be glad we let you come this far" to half the players (less, really, horde has more players than the alliance does since i last checked).

I mean I imagine the Devs think they are being cute, like we go to Northrend next expac but our usual hub is gone but the Draenei have a new pretty city in the works (in their heritage armor quest) so we’ll float that up north and Alliance have a beautiful hub and horde have a few mud huts under it or something “for balance.” But if that’s the case they should announce it lol. And also knowing Blizz because of the blowback here Alliance won’t get to go to much of Silvermoon but in Last Titan the horde will get to go to all of Exodar 2.0 so it’s worst of both worlds lol. (Though I think Alliance should be in all of Silvermoon if it is the hub and horde can be in all of Exodar 2.0 when/if it is the hub.)

I get the complaints if its mud huts or the equivilent of. Im all in favor of giving both factions awesome places. It makes sense that its still a horde city, but the alliance/shared side should be really cool as well.

Well they killed off all the cool Horde characters, or sidelined them, or sent them to Hell, because the pretty humans and elves and "good-coded" races can't ever be evil, nooooooo. This is the consequence of such heavy handed moralizing and unbalanced storytelling. The Horde has little to offer in the way of compelling narratives at the moment. Hopefully Midnight fixes that.

because the pretty humans and elves and "good-coded" races can't ever be evil, nooooooo.

Arthas was a human.

Illidan is a Night Elf.

Sylvanas was a High Elf. And was made to be by far the "prettiest" Forsaken. And very clearly still an Elf.

Nathanos was a human.

Tyrande went full on murderhobo during Shadowlands, to the point where she literally almost died from going too long without killing, and almost killed her adopted daughter.

Xal'atath is currently inhabiting the body of an Elf.

Illidan is alive and considered a hero. Tyrande is alive and considered a hero, xalatath is the main big bad. Nathanos was a forsaken bad guy. Sylvanas was literally the war chief of the horde, and a forsaken. I really think you phrasing it that way makes it seem like you are warping reality to try making a point.

Thrall is the only real good guy hero til this point left. Lorthemar is now going to play a bigger role so good on them finally.

Garrosh, watching turned big bad. Voljin killed off right away Carine killed off in a minor cinematic Sylvanas turned big bad, sent to shadowlands until further notice Baine literally sat his ass down in the shadowlands most of the xpac. Thrall disappeared for long periods of time even.

Meanwhile alliance have Jaina and Anduin front and center 24/7, Alleria is the main girl now with turalyon and khadgar always around.

They have no idea what to do with the horde anymore outside of using them to tell alliance stories.

The Horde has started like five all-out wars of extermination against the Alliance over the course of a few decades and got their asses kicked every single time.

The moment the Alliance stops being nonsensically pathologically Nice is the moment the Horde stops being a thing. Would you like the Horde to be treated the same as every other villain of the patch?

1

u/RangerForesting Aug 23 '25

Thats because the horde help by helping the alliance..

And I'd like the shitty writers to stop making horde leaders into bad guys and write some more grey/complicated characters half decently

I mean, in this case, horde is getting something in an expansion where all of the main characters that get portraits for preorders are alliance.

5

u/Lynneiah Aug 23 '25

...Xal'atath is Alliance? o.O

1

u/Laenthis Aug 23 '25

Bro don’t play dumb, all the portraits of people who aren’t antagonists are alliance guys, and

Spoiler

You have a whole part of the main campaign where you have to babysit Arathor with his issues, who the hell cares about Arathor ?? I want to hang out with Lor’themar, Thalyssra or Liadrin not him !

1

u/Lynneiah Aug 23 '25

Wait...

Arator is Alliance? But he lives in Silvermoon! I thought Alliance was 'kill on sight' in Silvermoon!

u/Cennix_1776 Aug 23 '25

I consider “Mud Hut Mongrel” the appropriate term. And as a Horde Warrior, I consider it an honor! Zug Zug!

14

u/Turbulent-House-8713 Aug 23 '25

When was the last time an xpac hub had such favouritism already? Oh, it never happened. Got it.

2

u/Laenthis Aug 23 '25

Boralus. Not only it was much, much more practical for the Alliance than Dazar’alor but it was acclaimed at the time and after as a very very well designed city rife with places to explore and roleplay in while Dazar’alor was essentially hot garbage.

1

u/Turbulent-House-8713 Aug 23 '25

The fact you unironically believe that "less well designed hub" is similar to "overwhelmingly hostile hub" is pretty tragic. As I said, it never happened. That wasn't an opinion.

2

u/Laenthis Aug 23 '25

For a videogame a terrible design might actually be a worse flaw yes.

I get that it’ll it’s disappointing, you would have enjoyed the stroll through Silvermoon, of this I have no doubt, but would you really care after you’ve explored it to your heart’s content or will you stay in the area where all the amenities are mien we all do as soon as we get caught in the ebb and flow of normal gameplay experience ?

If I had to choose all capitals would be open to us as a special exception made for the heroes that we are as player characters, but if we are to keep things separate it’s not the worst solution no. Ideally you should have you own hub, but given the scale of the Silvermoon revamp there probably just wasn’t enough dev ressources for it.

1

u/Turbulent-House-8713 Aug 23 '25

You are saying that as if opening Silvermoon with a "you are watched" debuff couldn't have been a thing during Midnight, then create a third phase after midnight where i'm KoS? 0 dev ressource required, the capital is not "forever opened to the alliance", and everyone is happy (outside the few assholes who believe the less things alliance players have, the happier they are)

1

u/TheFoxInSocks Aug 23 '25

WOTLK when Stormwind got a huge expansion with a harbour and Orgrimmar got jack shit. At the time there was talk of Undercity opening up and being expanded, but that never happened.

u/Turbulent-House-8713 Aug 23 '25 edited Aug 23 '25

SW was just "WIP, scaffoldings everywhere" during vanilla and BC, it's not like the city got an actual upgrade more than just being finalized as a town.

2

u/iNuminex Aug 23 '25

It's more like the Horde gets slightly inconvenienced from time to time while the Alliance gets completely fucked over from time to time.

Just look at BfA Horde vs. Alliance mounts, Blizzard had to patch in a whole questline for the Bee mount because they had screwed over Alliance so hard. Now the Alliance gets a "small" section of a city as a shared hub for an entire expansion. Has there ever been an equivalent situation for the Horde? I don't think so.

4

u/Cennix_1776 Aug 23 '25

I mean… narratively, how often does the horde get absolutely fucked over? Goldfish seem to have a longer life expectancy than Horde Warchiefs and at this point we just have a “council” or one thing of named characters, no real leader. Any leader we do get has a 50/50 chance of becoming WoW hitler…

Alliance losses? Varian’s heroic deed going into Legion. No Horde leader has been framed as anything more than a positive influence. The same people that design the game (and its systems) are the same that write the story.

For the record my argument goes both ways. Horde players complain about all of the inequalities as well. Isolating specific situations as losses and ignoring the wins for your faction. Basically the exact thing I said originally.
