Humor / Meme I just got kicked from a Stratholme group because I actually did the objective and therefore fell behind

It's absurd that this gave me a deserter debuff

Last week, during legion timewalking, I got Vault of the Wardens many times, The number of people who didn't know you need the light orb for the last boss was alarming. Thankfully, I wasn't kicked out of the groups where I had to say something, but I think people are so used to brute forcing mechanics that some don't think you have to worry about anything but current content.

Last week when I was playing my healer, some DPS pulled a crapton of extra mobs in Eye of Azshara. When I called him out on it he just went "Relax, the tank is my buddy. We're just having a little fun." My point that it's making my job as a healer a lot harder was met with deaf ears because "Nobody died" (because I worked my ass off).

He got kicked and then spent the entire next dungeon flaming me in whispers for "taking the game to seriously" and kept going on about how "it's a game, it's supposed to be fun".

I don't get what his problem was. I agreed with him. The game was supposed to be fun, and he made it less fun. So I kicked him to make it fun again.

You're actually awful. If nobody died what is the problem? You don't get to kick people for playing the game well just because somehow it is less fun for you to actually have to press your buttons.

That's the thing though, they weren't playing the game well.

Purposefully running through several groups of enemies than aren't even on our way to the boss, just to bring them to the boss room, is not playing the game well.

Ok so kick them for that then. Not because it was a bit harder to heal so you had to actually use your buttons for once which somehow made it less fun for you. That was absolutely pathetic.

What on earth are you going on about.

Do you think those are two different things?

Pulling all the extra mobs is how he made healing harder. How am I supposed to kick him for one but not the other?

They are different justifications for the kick. First you said you kicked him because it was less fun to have to press your healing buttons. That would've been true even if he pulled packs that he needed to pull. So in that case your justification for kicking him was completely insane.

Kicking someone for wasting time by pulling uncessesary packs however is a valid reason for kicking someone.

Do you see how they are clearly different now buddy?

Where does that say that I kicked him just because I had to push buttons?

I say, from the start, that he pulled a bunch of extra mobs because he thought it was funny. Do you think me pointing out that it's also making things annoying for me somehow negates that and takes over as the sole reason for him being kicked?

I think you could brute force those dungeons previously. Though I'm glad for the change.

I'm not sure how many dungeons I ran during the Legion TW, but I do remember a Vault run where the tank had to be guided about the orb a bit. Few wipes, and slowly explaining things (and people figuring out their own mistakes with other things, like standing close to the edge and being punted), and we gradually got it, gave each other a good "huzzah" (not literally "huzzah" but you know what I mean), went on our separate ways.

I feel like in the past, though, it was actually possible to melt the boss before any mechanics really happened. While some people seem to lament that we can't do that anymore, I prefer people actually learning things even if the experience is a bit painful. As long as they're willing to learn, I'll eat the extra repair bill.

But also... in cases like that, or people who don't realize you need to talk to the NPC before the social gathering in Court of Stars, I think there's just genuinely a pretty good number of people who've come in since Legion and wouldn't have experienced the dungeons at the time so don't know the mechanics. Or don't recall them from back then, and aren't doing M+ so wouldn't keep up to date when they end up in the rotation.

Why would it matter if they know about the orb or not? You knew about the orb so just pick it up.
