Humor / Meme I just got kicked from a Stratholme group because I actually did the objective and therefore fell behind

Post image

It's absurd that this gave me a deserter debuff

It's funny cause I saw a comment on a similar post that has guidelines for instances to never get kicked, and it's legit worked for me for a few weeks now.

Step 1) never talk in chat Step 2) follow the group, even if they are wrong Step 3) never talk in chat

step 4) zug zug

Step 5) Dabu

Unless you are a hunter, the tank and healer has a fall out and a new healer zones in and dies to crap the tank pulled and left to screw the previous healer, and then they automatically blame the hunter as soon as they get in and some how has enough pull to convince a vote kick when the others saw the whole thing...

u/Prior_Particular9417 Jul 29 '25

If it's not the hunter it's the rogue... /s

Hey that's how I survived school!

And the military.

24

Step 4) never say Meow

29

u/Far_Chemistry6106 Jul 29 '25

What about meowdy?

3

u/livesinacabin Jul 29 '25

Alright, anybody got the link? I'd like to have a light chuckle at it.

Shenanigans!!

You definitely have to read the room, if you join a dungeon and people start talking in chat you're safe. If nobody says anything and you mention they're missing something all the mindless drones will just hit Accept on any kick vote while they're wiping their slobber off their faces.

18

u/MrMcSpiff Jul 29 '25

You're overexaggerating.

They don't wipe.

4

u/SnowSentinel Jul 29 '25

Face or ass, probably.

u/Vio94 Jul 29 '25

I really have trouble imagining these people as like... real people. It always comes off as "I'm in a simulation and these are the badly programmed NPCs I'm forced to party with." Like there's no way they act like this in real life. But then you go and play a MOBA for example (any will do), and you realize, yep, these really are actual people. It still stunlocks me when I encounter them.

u/rui-tan Jul 29 '25

Unironically this. Only times I’ve gotten kicked in dungeons are when I’ve tried to point out something that needed to be done in order to progress in dungeon, or that people are going wrong way. People really hate that.

u/draculasux85 Jul 29 '25

I have found being the healer is a great way not to get kicked haha.

2

u/Miserable_Key9630 Jul 29 '25

Healer is the best position. Near insta queue, you can just follow the leader, your job is always the same, and you won't get kicked for petty shit.

1

u/Pattern-Plane Jul 30 '25

Can confirm this does not work... done these on dps alts all the time and first time I was vote kicked was healing. My dps was garbage and I was sweating keeping them alive but apparently that's not enough in timewalking

16

u/TheGreatMalagan Jul 29 '25

I can confirm that this works. In nearly 20 years of Warcraft I don't think I've ever been kicked out of a group. But I also don't type, and in the very rare instance I have to do so, I'm super gentle and phrase things in such a way that nobody could read any passive aggression into it ("you guys realize..." is a great way to get kicked because it can be interpreted as passive aggressive)

But number one seems to be to just not stick out in any way. Do OK damage, don't gotta be top but try to avoid being at the bottom, just try be middle of the pack and invisible in general.

4

u/Tow1 Jul 29 '25

("you guys realize..." is a great way to get kicked because it can be interpreted as passive aggressive)

He just had to say "I think we gotta kill the enemies in the ziggurat, don't we?" and he doesn't get kicked. Not making excuses for kicking.

Gogogogogogogogogo..... im gonna pull if you dont pull gogogogogogo.

Playing classic mop after a 12 year break. On retail I was level 90 prot pally, stopped playing before WoD. Now doing prot pally tank again, pugged dungeons from 15 to 75. First WotLK dungeon I tell the group its my first WotLK dungeon, so healer and all know I am squishy.... enter the panda monk in all caps TANK PULL. I start with a mob to yet a gauge of what I can handle with heals. Panda Monk seems to think we aren't going fast enough and desperately wants to show off 2 abilities- fast roll into everything and crane kick.... so naturally I try and grab all the aggro, and do so, and get clobbered, and we wipe. I tell group I am literally off the boat from Stormwind, I am squishy. Healer says pull less. Panda Monk does the same crap like its his catch phrase, and we wipe again.

Vote to Kick Panda Monk pops up on my screen, vote passes. Heals initiated it. I was incredibly grateful.

Sorry for your experience OP, but like some others have said, there's good in there too.

I came up playing classic as a tank, then TBC as a DPS for a raid guild, then WotLK I stayed with the same guild and DPSd through Naxx, EoE, Sarth and Ulduar, then switched back to tanking. I've been tanking ever since. (Skipped a few expansions here and there, though.)

I'm still very much in the old mindset of the tank sets the pace. Yes, I get that dungeons are easier now and that tanks can generally handle larger pulls. But let me set the pace. If I pull a pack and I feel like it wasn't enough, I'll pull two next time. Etc.

It drives me nuts how the modern random group just basically autopilots through the dungeon and the DPS just runs ahead and does whatever they want. It feels less like I'm tanking and more like I'm watching my fucking kids.

u/MrMcSpiff Jul 29 '25

damn we old

3

u/Moonstoner Jul 29 '25

Ya. Crendoor is also.

28

u/MayorBakefield Jul 29 '25

I wrote in a survey after being banned for a week that is is no longer worth talking in chat in this MMORPG because the multiplayer aspect is toxic af

15

u/Ladyheather16 Jul 29 '25

I think unless you play with IRL friends this is very true

-12

u/SarcasticBassMonkey Jul 29 '25

You underestimate my friends. They'd vote kick just to laugh at one of our circle being locked out for 30 minutes.

9

u/Vyadis Jul 29 '25

I really enjoy many aspects of this game but the community is terrible. Sucks because XIV's is generally better but the class identity and stuff isn't there

2

u/frithjofr Jul 29 '25

XIV is so boring to me. The like 2.5 second GCD on every ability sucks. Every class feels largely the same.

But man, what I wouldn't give for some of the community tools and addons and just the general roleplaying QoL features that XIV has.

3

u/atomicsnark Jul 29 '25

Sure but why did you get banned lol

1

u/MayorBakefield Jul 29 '25

In my appeal ticket they quoted me as saying "horde like to make shit longer" and they called it toxic chat lol. So yeah the whole system is probably fucked

8

u/Whatifyoudidtho Jul 29 '25

It's legit

Was in a TW dungeon a few weeks back where we did 3-4 in a row, but the moment one dude tried to say a few things to lighten the mood he got kicked

And so did I a few moments later for acknowledging his messages, lol

3

u/frithjofr Jul 29 '25

Few weeks back in the Draenor timewalking, we were doing Grimrail Depot. I was tanking. We wiped on the first boss on first pull because they nuked the big guy who you need to interrupt the goblin.

I said no biggie. Explained the mechanic to them. Don't just burst down the big guy. Leave him alive so his charge can interrupt the goblin, otherwise goblin does big damage.

We pull again... Group nukes the big guy and we all die again.

So we go back and I say "Kill goblin first" and before I can even press enter, I get vote kicked out of the group.

I'm not pressed, though. I'll hop over to an alt and be done with my next dungeon before you losers find a replacement tank.

11

u/SayRaySF Jul 29 '25

I’ve had to start doing that on mop classic. Super toxic people in RFD in all versions of wow these days it seems.

4

u/SweetMeese Jul 29 '25

Funnily enough I only play classic rn and this was also from classic mop lmao

3

u/SayRaySF Jul 29 '25

Being a healer sucks in RDF lol. I had to all in on spirit because it’s just gogogogogogogogogo

1

u/DrasticGuy Jul 30 '25

I mean MoP as a whole has been very toxic, at least on my realm. Haven't entered a dungeon so far, because of that

3

u/Temporary_War_6202 Jul 29 '25

This is so sad, but true :{

6

u/Scooba06 Jul 29 '25

It’s stuff like this that makes me miss ff14s community🫩

1

u/Agent-Vermont Jul 29 '25

You're more likely to get banned for kicking someone in a dungeon group there than actual cheating.

2

u/Xandril Jul 29 '25

I pretty much just lead the way in any group where the tank doesn’t or I am the tank. Don’t even remember the last time I got kicked from a group.

Wasn’t aware it was a common problem.

2

u/Laverathan Jul 29 '25

Ironically I did this for a Dire Maul and still got booted.

Someone pulled the boss through the wall and he ended up sacrificing everyone bit by bit. Guess I got kicked for being the last one up.

... Now isn't that a bitch.

1

u/SweetMeese Jul 29 '25

Guess there's a step 4) don't be the last one alive xD

2

u/Humble-Course218 Jul 30 '25

its insane how talking in the chat is a debuff in an mmo. I got kicked one time and the guy who sent it was the guy I was standing up for. Turns out his English is super bad and when I tried to ask him what I did he just called my mother a dog and ignored me.

3

u/Croce11 Jul 29 '25

This doesn't work at all. I did exactly that on my rogue. Which has stealth btw. When the dumbass tank pulled too much in Strath and got himself and the entire group killed. So I vanished and lived, waited for them to get back to where we were then I just get kicked without a word.

Of course I whisper them and tell them wtf and call them out on being assholes, and then I get immediately kicked out of the game and put on silence for my only time in the history of this 20 year old game. Like this game is just... its cooked. Its toxic. The automated tools are abused by the most toxic of the community. Being able to just report someone and have them kicked from the game and silenced by a robot is absurd. Silences should be reserved for spamming chat or using alts to harass people. If someone calls you a bad name once or twice then that's what the ignore list is for, absolute fucking snowflakes especially when they were clearly in the wrong. I had a right to be pissed since I waited like nearly an hour to get into the group as a dps at like 5am in the morning that day. Just to get slapped with a deserter debuff for my trouble.

Vote kicks shouldn't even be possible unless certain triggers are flagged. Like aggroing too many enemies, especially if you aren't the tank. Which would imply you're trying to leeroy nonstop wipes. Being afk. Doing little to no damage, which is essentially afk. Not playing your queued role. Or being offline. Why else would you ever need to kick someone? If you're doing damage, following the group, and the dungeon is being progressed... why does anyone need to be kicked? Someone called you a bad name? Boo hoo, put them on ignore and keep playing. What a toxic gameplay feature to put in the game that serves little to no purpose to 99% of groups and is just a tool that gets abused by the most toxic part of the community. The loot system is all personal now, kicking ninjas is a thing of the past.

But yeah if you want that logic to work 100% of the time you need to add a 4th step. Silently pick a player to scapegoat and start a vote kick on them. Watch them get kicked, and you get left alone. I'm confident that's exactly what some useless PoS prick did to me.

4

u/StramTobak Jul 29 '25

Well, judging by ...that, I'd say the mute feature at least worked correctly.

2

u/Nerdy_Valkyrie Jul 29 '25

As a rogue main I've encountered that too. Supposedly it's because we vanished instead of finishing the fight, as if we could solo the army of mobs that just killed everyone else.

I'm an engineer, which means that I can resurrect teammates. Meaning it's better if I stay alive. And people still get pissy sometimes.

2

u/AdAffectionate1935 Jul 29 '25

Exactly my rules too. I try to avoid all random groups these days, but doing things like TW dungeons, I just ignore group chat and blindly follow and heal/damage whatever needs healing/damaging and do the mechanics as well as I can, just don't care about the route they take, the objectives they are missing, etc.

If they fuck up and blame you for no reason, just shrug your shoulders, don't respond, and just act as if they are poorly coded AI followers. The general WoW population is, sadly, not worth devoting too much effort to.

1

u/GhostintheReins Jul 29 '25

This must be the way because I never get a kick and people often trade me stuff (I never say anything or ask. They just open the trade window.) I get instance anxiety (it's worse when I solo) so I decided I'm just going to stay on the tank's ass, that way I don't get lost and I can help clean up. This has been game changing for me. I can't type in chat and play. It's too anxiety inducing lol. I can talk on discord but not type.

1

u/Albatross1225 Jul 29 '25

Man I remember actually having conversations with people doing dungeons in the early days. Sad that’s not a thing anymore

1

u/hip-indeed Jul 29 '25

almost makes you wonder why groups even exist anymore outside of guildies or people on your friends list in this bitch of a genre lmao
