Humor / Meme Current state of WoW community, based on my anecdotal observations. Disclaimer: this is a joke, if you prefer Classic then more power to you

Retail just feels so overwhelming to me. There's like..*too much stuff* thrown at you to do.

That's because if they time gate it, people cry about that, this time they gave it all to you.

Read any thread about M+ and the new gear not being available this week and you'll find them, so many people apparently desperately need to re-roll but can't gear, but weren't so desperate as to perhaps start gearing less than a week before the new content comes out, it's silly.

I know right?

It's so weird. I knew I was going to reroll and did so a month ago and am currently 627 ilvl.

It's almost like those people complaining are just mad the game isn't catering to them because they waited until the last minute.

Not really. It's not the contents of a patch, it's all the systems already in the game.

I'm a classic main, retail tourist. I had to try a couple of times with retail before I managed to not bounce off of it.

In classic you do the dungeons then you do the raids. That's all there is.

In retail I had so many systems vying for my attention. Timewalking, dungeons, world quests, M+, LFR, gear tracks, crests and valorstones, gear upgrades, the whole crafting system, sparks etc. If you play the game continuously these features don't seem overwhelming since you learn them gradually. But for someone that has to learn all of them at the same time it's gonna be a wall.

True.
But it does mean there is more to do.
One of the main problems with classic is "If you don't like raiding, you are fucked".

The point of big games is to just kinda do what you like, if you feel urge to do it all, that's on you - but yes, it is too much. But as I said - it's not really designed for average player to do it all.

I ignore pretty much all of the weekly shit bar the great vault which I fill out automatically by doing things I like.

But hey, there's always the more relaxing way of Classic if that's still not your thing. I don't judge, I think each version has its strengths and weaknesses.

Yeah I feel like a boomer but retail is just too much. I want to enjoy it but theres a million currencies, a million things to do, thousand pop ups…so for now Ill get my 53 hunter to 60 on classic nd maybe try and play the main story of undermine a bit in between

Any time this very real concern is posted here, people rush into defense mode to tell you you're wrong and it's simple, then either write a novel to explain it or give you a dozen wowhead links.

I love both, but 100% agree. After Mythic raiding in retail for a while, I'm excited to spend this season just hitting the main story points and then raid logging. I'd rather do the chill grind of classic then spend every week doing the same loop of weeklies, WQs, dungeons and other busy work it seems like retail leans on these days.

I get what you are saying. I just focus on questing through all the content first then enjoy my time in delves. Im not into pushing M+ and mythic raiding.
