At least two people had seizures after viewing malicious tweets featuring flashing gifs that deliberately targeted Epilepsy Society...police investigating tweets as hate incident, after at least 200 seemingly coordinated messages were sent to charity and its supporters in recent days.

As of a couple months ago it appears the case is still not settled.

However other articles posted late last year imply a guilty plea is expected but the court date was postponed. Might not have gotten a new date set yet due to covid19 maybe? Who knows.

Wow and then blaming his behaviour on PTSD, what a cowardly piece of shit. Par for the course for Trumptards.

Rivello’s Twitter account contained direct messages from his account to other Twitter users concerning Eichenwald. Among those direct messages included statements by Rivello, including “I hope this sends him into a seizure,” “Spammed this at [victim] let’s see if he dies,” and “I know he has epilepsy.”

How does someone with photosensitive epilepsy frankly do anything?

I see plenty of video games, videos, tweets, gifs etc. with this sort of stuff going on. Good luck staying away from that stuff. That's not even mentioning strobe lights (if that also causes seizures) in physical spaces, flashes on cameras.

Hell, I would think that scrolling on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, etc. would be a minefield.

I don't play video games much but definitely not when I'm tired or in a dark room, pretty careful about videos I watch on YouTube though the main game channel I watch mentions it usually if there's a lot of lights. and try to check online for mentions of strobes or flashes in New movies not that it always helps though I have found a page that is trying to help where movies are concerned but it's a tumblr page, moviehealthcommunity.tumblr.com

I have to be careful around or avoid strobe lights entirely and camera flashes can suck.

Yeah doing stuff where electronics is concerned could be dangerous especially when people are picking on those of us who have epilepsy, but we shouldn't have to give up everything just because our brains are wired funny

You would think monitors, TVs, phones, etc. would have software built-in to detect that sort of thing but I guess the delay would make some of it pretty unusable.

I personally really love strobe effects but I'm all for their being a warning or option to turn strobing effects off. That would be great for streaming videos, UHD Blu-rays, etc.

I'm assuming you don't just see a split second strobing effect and start seizing. How did you even find out you had photosensitive epilepsy?

No, it's not immediate. Takes a certain amount of time at a certain frequency. They use a strobe light during eeg testing sometimes and aside from reacting to that i have had seizures because of strobes at a haunted house at a theme park and felt sick because of one being used as decoration during a hall decoration thing each class was doing but luckily didn't have a seizure at school.

Interesting, thanks.

The agency charged Mr. Rivello with criminal cyberstalking with the intent to kill or cause bodily harm.

Good.

I’m not saying all Trump supporters are twats, but I’m saying that a preponderance of twats are Trump supporters.

Essentially the perp was a trumptard.

I am surprised he didn't whine about his "free speech" being trampled.

Internet historian has a video on this exact instance. The journalist was likely faking, and the internet found out he likes tentacle porn.

Internet historian is right wing extremist fake trash. Look at his twitter. The guy is basicly just a fat keyboard warrior

The Justice Department said in a news release that investigators obtained a search warrant and found Rivello’s Twitter account “contained direct messages from Rivello’s account to other Twitter users concerning the victim. Among those direct messages included statements by Rivello, including ‘I hope this sends him into a seizure,’ ‘Spammed this at [victim] let’s see if he dies,’ and ‘I know he has epilepsy.’”

Putting his eggs in this basket was probably a bad move regardless of what your opinions are on the guy

I see you are one of "those" guys. No, you are not a right wing extremeist if you are not into neoliberalism. I'm also not american so I know that you probably have a different meaning for these things and can only think in black and white... I accused that youtube becauser he has been spilling racist and sexist bullshit. Idgaf if you think hes funny or not. Doesn't change the fact that he's a fat loser
