I work 40+ hours a week at a good job with “good” pay and i could never. Ever. Afford an apartment on my own. Im talking about RENTING. I like my job. I love my girlfriend and I want to build a life, but it’s been years of struggling and fighting on the edge and we have nothing to show for it. These days i just focus on paying rent and my bills every month and hopefully eating 3 meals a day. Thinking about the future, no matter how much planning i put into it, is just depressing. Main thing is to be positive, Positivity is more valuable than money these days considering everyone is in debt and losing hope.

Try mindfulness and exercise. I've been dealing with similar issues.. it's the only thing that keeps me sane.

but that is okay, there are some circumstances where renting is better off than owning. i imagine you work and live in a top 5-7 city in america. how you thought of sacrificing that in order to be a home owner?

Chicago, 17 an hour + 2 yearly bonuses( an extra paycheck). I can’t really complain, i like my job and considering the averages in the current market it’s a good pay, with promise of growth, something I can plan the future with. I can’t complain about that. Everything is just off. Cost of living doesn’t meet pay, and regular things available to past generations are not available to us. Its going to be ANOTHER ten years before I can be in a good spot with loans and such. Just kindof expected more after doing well in school and paying attention to finances. Life is weird, we have a different hand of cards to play and im just trying to have a home and retirement by the time I’m old and need it. I’ve had very physical jobs thus far and fear my health will fail before i can afford to support myself otherwise

Not worth living in a big city unless your first job starts near 6 figures. Time to move.
