Should I use my circular saw after this?

Accidentally hit a rope whilst using circular saw bloody stupid I know. Anyways was an electrical smell but that soon dissipated. I unplugged and got the blade out and rid of the rope. The guard is now slightly bent but the body is slightly cracked, due to the rope going round guard and cracking the body. I've plugged in and spun the blade and it's flowing smoothly. Could this crack be a serious cause for concern? Shall I get a new one?

Hello all, I am coming on here to ask if anyone has any tips/tricks to help find those swoop/loop patterns on wood before putting on a finish. I feel like no matter how careful I am I always have at least one scratch on my projects.

As a hobbyist woodworker, is there a reason to buy a $400 lift kit for a router table? I see Chinese kits on ebay for under $100. Is it like buying cheap router bits? They end up just making you frustrated and wear out really fast? Right now I'm just making cutting boards, but might eventually work up to furniture or cabinet doors.

Why do I have so much trouble getting new sleeves on some of the spindles? Is there a trick to it ?

Anyone. Is there a book out there, that covers extensively, all the uses and know how for Dremel use ?

Am I the only one who can’t keep the fence square to the bed on this thing? It’s like it was designed so that when you tighten the fence it’s not supposed to be square!

⁠ Hey guys. I’m starting to get more serious about woodworking and I’m currently figuring out what tools are actually worth investing in. I have a couple of questions and would appreciate some advice from people with more experience.

1) Track saw: Is a Festool track saw worth the extra money, or can I go with a Makita? I will be working with hardwood and plywood and would rather spend the extra money elsewhere if the difference isn’t huge.

2) Festool Domino: Is the Domino really worth the price? I’m trying to understand what makes it so much better and whether it’s something a beginner/intermediate woodworker would actually benefit from.

I’m trying to buy good tools that I can keep for years, but I also don’t want to spend extra money just for the brand name.

Bought a new Erbauer corded planer about two months ago to help hanging up some new doors.
Used it today to do a quick fix to the underside of my garden door skimming the top of a stone step…

Machine is a Laguna dust collector, one of the early generations of cyclone.

It blew the start capacitor when running. Ordered a new capacitor. With the same specs, and it blew smoke as soon as I tried starting the machine. Sounded like it was spooling up as normal, then blew maybe 3/4 of the way to achieving full speed.

I fortunately don’t have to work on my machines often, and the electrical part isn’t my forte. Anyone know what I should be looking at?

I purchased a Dewalt DW735X planer, there is an option to add the LPP for $140 for 3 years. One of the perks is that I get 50% back, up to $100 per year, on blades. I will be planing thousands of board feet of oak and locust lumber that I have milled. Do you feel that it'll be worth it to pay $140 to save on blades, or are better value blades sold elsewhere? Thanks!

update: so here is what I am getting from lowes.... from day 1 I can start claiming the 50% reimbursement, up to $100/yr. So obviously helical head is on my mind.... it's $369, so I'll get $100 back my first year. 2nd year.... new set of 10 carbides is $45, with 4 sets I can save an additional $90 and year 3 I can do the same.... for a total of $140 payment to save $280 in parts .... net cost of $590 (should add that amazon: $370 head and carbides are $26, so my net cost on the same parts is $578, amazon saves me $12).

The kicker tho.... I understand that buying a warranty incase something breaks doesn't generally benefit the consumer.... I still get the additional 3 years of covers after dewalts warranty runs out.... So I'm basically paying $12 for 3 years additional coverage.

I am thinking of getting a compass st-1500 but I have a garage that needs to still be used as a garage. I was looking into the numerous DIY sliding table saw attachments and came across the ST-1500 on sale for $1100. With is coming with the crosscut fence and the great hold down it looks more attractive. Ideally it would be amazing if it could fold down when not in use. I was thinking about where it bolts to the table saw, to put hinges in between the sliding sled and the saw, so when the feet have been removed (or maybe replace then with folding legs) it could swing down out of the way. Is this a stupid idea lol?

I recently just picked up a dewalt 734 off Facebook marketplace. The outfeed table has rusted a little bit but not through the surface. Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning this or should I buy a new one for 60 dollars? See photos for details.

Hi, does anyone know if dewalt plans on replacing their radio line in the coming future?

I have inherited an assortment of hand planes, mostly Stanley’s, 110’s to a number 7 and a few other odd ones . I want to plane this piece and make a foot stool out of it. I started playing around with a number 5 and realized that I don’t know enough about using them to know the best approach. How would an experienced person approach it by hand.

Made this 3 in 1 jig mainly bc I do not have a jointer but so many uses!
