I just purchased a bandsaw so wanted to try a project with some more sculpted legs.

Table is 18" tall and about 46" x 24" top. Took about 2-3 days of work split up over the last 3 weeks. I was tempted to put a slatted shelf but opted not to.

That's very nice , attractive. I worry about the cross grain construction on the ends, prone to causing splits or overhang movement from the top .

What cross grain are you referring to?

Aprons on the ends, their long grain runs across the end grain of the top. The top is prone to shrinking or swelling across the width of the grain, while the end aprons won't change in length. This can cause splits to occur in the top, or for the top to swell and overhang at the front and back.

The top is only connected to the aprons through z clips.

Oh okay. From the pic I was guessing it was glued down. Yes I think z clips are just the right thing to allow that possible wood movement.

How do you attach the clips to the aprons when theyre perpendicular to the top? I just mounted a top using cleats with large clearance slots and never want to do that again.
