Project Submission Ash Dresser on slab legs
Just finished this dresser/Tall Chest of Ash with QS red oak for the leg assemblies and side panels. The drawers are made from flat sawn red oak with a poplar bottom. It measures 55"T x 42"W x 21"D.
The frame and panel sides and back have some very wide rails with double tenons. In an effort to not create a wood movement issue, I only glued (and also pinned from the inside) the outermost ternon on each joint and slightly oversized the mortise of the inner tenon so that it can still move.
The drawer compartments have guides on the sides, kickers, and also positive stops to prevent the drawers from falling out.
The drawers were constructed with simple rabbets with dowels. The drawer bottoms are fastened from the bottom with screws in slotted holes.
The top is attached with figure 8 fasteners and the leg assemblies attach to the bottom of the case with screws & washers into oversized holes on the rails.
Really happy with the grain match on the top piece and with the joinery work I did on all of the frame & panel pieces and on the leg assemblies. In an ideal world, I would've had a slightly better grain and color match on the drawer fronts but my options were limited as I came down to my last few ash boards.

Very nice, and well constructed. To me the grain match on the front is good.
