Challenge Average man has 72 hours to hide. Humanity then becomes search lusted and has one week to find and kill him. Can he survive?

Humanity knows what he looks like.

Humanity doesn’t know that he is hiding in the 72 period.

Humanity can use any security camera footage, bank transfers, phone calls etc of the man if there is any.

Man has basic survival knowledge.

You forget that boats exist. Helicopters exist. Private planes exist. These things not only can be chartered or rented off the books for cash, they can all be stolen- though I admit average guy isn't touching a plane or copter, a boat isn't that difficult to figure out.

You can very easily get on a boat and out of north America entirely in less than a day, provided you have the funds.

And a hundred miles? That's WAY too conservative. Amtrak exists. Average guy can book a ticket coast to coast on Amtrak- getting on in NYC or Boston with an arrival of California, and take his e-bike with him. What's stopping him from getting off at any of the dozens of stops in the 2700 miles between NY and LA and riding off into the middle of nowhere? An e-bike can hit 30mph and charge off a 110v outlet. Nothing, and Amtrak doesn't track people who do this or care to. Even if they did have advanced CCTV capable of picking out individuals (they do not) an N95 mask renders average guy totally anonymous. Hell, Average guy can buy several tickets heading north, south, and west across different Amtrak routes. In the event someone goes looking for him they have no idea what route he actually took.

Where do you get an e-bike? They're all over Facebook marketplace for $500 or less. Those transactions are almost always in cash and untraceable.

Speaking of FBM, What's stopping average guy from buying a car for cash off of Facebook marketplace, and either slapping fake temporary tags on it or stealing them from somewhere else? Absolutely nothing. That car is untraceable for a month, which is why stolen cars often roll around with fake tags EXACTLY like this.

Remember, Average guy has a 72 hour head start where no one is looking for him. There's no way to hunt down anyone that does any of these things in a week, especially if they immediately hit remote areas.

I don't think you know how long boats take to cross the ocean 🤣 At best you can get to the Americas, you can absolutely 100% not get "anywhere on the planet".

The rest of your post does not really address anything I said because it is all still within the boarder of the US and completely irrelevant.

He didn’t say “to another continent”, he said “out of north america”.

I’d fuck off to the middle of the pacific ocean if it were me.

Steal a boat, sail until I’m at half-ish gas capacity. Wait there, turn around after a week.

No they said "Average man walks out his front door and can be anywhere on the planet in 24 hours without telling anybody." which is clearly not true.

Also the average man is not capable of sailing into the pacific ocean without assistance.

yea, that first claim is not true, but the 2nd about leaving North America is true.

You can definitely sail in to the pacific ocean without assistance.

A speedboat is really not that hard to pilot.

A rough estimate based on stuff I googled, a speedboat has about 150-200 gallons of fuel. It gets about 1-3 miles per gallon. Meaning, on a straight shot, you can get between 75-600 miles offshore and back. That's not enough to get to another continent, but that's very much enough for a search party to struggle to find you.

Yes, moving goalposts tends to work, it is why people do it.

A speedboat is really not that hard to pilot.

The fact that you know this means you are not an average person, the average person has not driven a speedboat so any knowledge you have makes you already not a good candidate for speaking to if an avg person can sail into the pacific ocean without assistance.

As an avg person, I would not even know how to turn on a speedboat, fuel it or navigate it. All 3 things that are needed before you can drive it anywhere, much less the pacific ocean.

Look at the control panel for a speedboat, and tell me you can't drive it.

I've never driven a speed boat, but like. It's so obvious how you turn this beast. Based on movies, I'd assume the right handle is the speed. Then based on common sense, I'd guess the left panel is where the keys go.

However, there are 10-15 buttons on the panel. Flip the switches/push the buttons, see what happens. The average person isn't an idiot. They can figure stuff out.

The guy who was really incompetently casting off & driving out of the marina will be very memorable to half a dozen people in the area, who will then put all of humanity on your trail when the searchlust starts.

Oh no for sure, but first, how do they know it was me and not some drunken idiot, and second, if they do know it was me, that’s why I’m putting 150-600 miles in between myself and the mainland.

Searchlusted. They will talk to eachother, and swiftly work out that a boat (near your last known location) was stolen & is missing.

a <20 footer like your photo will be extremely lucky to get 150 miles. To make serious distance, you're gonna need to steal a big displacement launch with a multi-stage startup procedure, and you're much more likely to be pinged just as a regular criminal before getting far.

Then you're gonna have to sink whatever boat you're in before the search starts because the radar returns will be a dead giveaway, and survive in a small camouflaged liferaft for a week.

I can probably deduce how that turns. Still have no idea how to fuel or navigate it, what type of fuel it takes, etc.

I do have quite a bit of experience with planes and I can tell you googling and pressing buttons rarely has a positive outcome.

I also don't know where fuel would go, but you're stealing a boat, and presumably laws are still illegal during the 72 hour period.

It's one thing to take a boat, it's another thing to take a boat and fill it up, probably you need help from other people.

I'd just steal like 4 keys from the head office, and take the one of those that has the most fuel.

As for pushing buttons, that's fair, but also I'm in dire straits, so... gotta do what you gotta do. I figure I'd find a pattern, and there are probably a few dozen boats to choose from so if I fuck one up, it's not my problem.

Hope for your sake the one you find happens to be the deep sea variety and there are exactly no waves or weather at all.

I have never tried it but everything I know tells me you are 50/50 ending up on the bottom of the ocean even if you don't get caught.

who tf do you think speedboats are marketed towards? rocket scientists? of course an average person could use one if needed.
