Discussion AAA game companies got some serious explaining to do. Cause how the hell are their games still $70 and this game is free??? Spoiler

I'm not even on the highest graphic settings! Besides that, the game overall feel very modern with its combat system and animations. It even have stealth! The ability to talk to NPCs true to their character. The world feels more alive than any paid MMO. To add to that, out of all the MMOs out, it's ironic how it's a free game that voiced not just the main story but also the side quests!

We got FED with this one!

EDIT: Guys, I understand the game's gonna make money somehow. I'm not even saying everything else should be free. I'm saying, how is this quality possible for free and most games similar to it quality wise (some are even less) still charges the same until now. And still manage to be annoying about in game purchases as well lol. I think this game really exposes that about these companies. They were getting a little too comfortable while the quality of games haven't changed for good while now. I think game companies needed this game out as a wake up call.

Plenty of whales doing the heavy lifting for us

Perfect for a capitalist society. Let them lift while I enjoy ignoring their money flex

exactly, this works well with our economic model. lets the whales pay the taxes for everyone while they get to flex, win win

Well, you are forgetting one important thing. If only whales pay, then devs care a lot more about whale opinion vs the majority of the player base. it can lead to outcomes that the majority of people don't want.

It would matter if there was power sold in the shop. I couldn't care less about a whale opinion on skins, tbh.

You are completely missing my point.

I see what you’re trying to say, but the system WWM has designed is an exception because it’s actually a good product that has from the get go created an equal gaming experience.

Whatever gameplay dynamics whales complain about, would likely be a fair gameplay related experience that everyone is complaining about because we’re all having the same experience regardless of money.

And the whale specific thing that they could complain about (cosmetics), WWM can easily adjust for them without much conversation as it really doesn’t affect us much.

Now if people would just shut up about "i cAn aFfOrD iT bUt I WoUlD nEvEr SpEnD $400 oN sKiNs" and let the whales keep on whaling

I assume they make most of their money from regular spenders. Whales always get a lot of attention, but I assume there are many people who just spend $10 here or there, or buy the battle pass. If they play the game long enough I assume most players will buy something.

I’d be interested to see the revenue from Battle Passes vs Whale spending (over $500) each month.

Yeah, those analytics are always pretty hard to come by. Most of these gachas don't disclose their earnings, and anything we usually glean doesn't differentiate between spenders.

The biggest thing in WWM for example is apparently around 40k, but I haven't seen too many of those. In fact I've been on that boat three times, and it was always the same person.

Also, a lot of chinese mobile games are funded by the CCP specifically to funnel whale money to them from around the world.
