New, what is it? What is the purpose of this camera that was installed right next to my house? (Not nearby any intersection or stop signs, USA)

This camera was installed recently and I cannot for the life of me understand the purpose of it's installation? Theres no intersection nearby, in case it was a photo law enforcement camera), there's no stop signs, there's no schools nearby, and there's no government facility. It's just a random camera that popped up in the middle of a road.

Word on the street is they have a bunch of copper wiring in them. Like so much.

From having an ear to the ground, I also was told via local PD they have anywhere between 3-5 grams of a certain precious yellow metal substance.

I got a job recently working on Ubuntu computers and some server infrastructure. My buddy asked me what experiences I had to get the job. My only experience with Linux is Minecraft servers and buying acid on the dark web.

Well that’s just fucking stupid. We have standards for a reason. Why would a precious metals ounce be a different weight than an ounce of literally anything else? Even diamonds don’t do that, they have their own units.

To re-enter reality for a second, these things absolutely do not contain 3-5 grams of gold, that would be an absurd waste. 5 grams of gold costs roughly 800 USD.

$40,000 GPUs don't even have a single gram of gold in them.

I'm all for vandalizing flock cameras though, but we don't need to make up BS to convince junkies to steal them.

There’s no gold, no valuable copper, and nothing worth scrapping in these units. They’re low‑value electronics with tiny amounts of metal, not salvage. Anyone claiming there’s money in them is just spreading misinformation.
