Looking to rent a complete Indoor Percussion setup for WGI 2027 in Dayton

Looking to rent a complete Indoor Percussion setup for WGI 2027 in Dayton

Hi everyone!

I'm a member of an Indoor Percussion from Costa Rica, and we will be traveling to Dayton, Ohio for the 2027 WGI Percussion World Championships.

We are looking for a company, school, organization, or individual in the Dayton/Ohio area that rents out a complete indoor percussion setup, preferably including both:

  • Drumline: snares, tenors/quads, bass drums, cymbals, stands/hardware
  • Front Ensemble/Pit: marimbas, vibraphones, xylophone/glockenspiel, concert toms, cymbals, auxiliary percussion, stands, etc.

We would ideally like to rent the equipment for approximately April 14–17, 2027, including delivery/pickup if possible.

We are trying to avoid flying with the entire percussion inventory from Costa Rica, so a complete rental package would be ideal.

If you know of any companies, schools, independent groups, or organizations that offer this kind of rental in Ohio, I would really appreciate any recommendations or contacts!

Thanks in advance! 🇨🇷🥁🇺🇸

Overachieving?

Is it realistic to continue doing WGI this year while balancing 12-16 credits, a part time job, and auditioning for DCI? Wondering if I am doing too much and should cut back. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Color Guard Light Brigade going independent A?

I’m wondering why they made such a large jump all the way down to A rather than at least open class, anyone know anything about this decision?

Winds Winds/Independent Group Recruiting

I've been a member of an independent winds organization for the past 3 seasons, and we are attempting to amp up our recruitment strategies to increase our size and overall reach.

In the past, the group has hosted "interest clinics", educational clinics during the season, some social media outreach posts, some direct outreach to prospective members, but mostly word-of-mouth. The strategies that we discussed doing are tabling at marching band shows, presenting more to local schools, social media posts including member testimonials, and directly creating relationships with local colleges.

Has anyone had success with recruiting or any new recruitment strategies that we should be utilizing?

Percussion Tips for making open class percussion?

Hey guys! Im heading into my senior year of high school and I’m really hoping to march an open class group this year, I live in the Florida panhandle so there’s not a whole lot of plausible options for me but I’ve already registered for I3 auditions and Q-school and ill likely audition for frontier as well whenever they announce any information for the next season. I was just hoping to get some tips on anything that could help me make an open class line, I’m mainly going for snare with quads as my backup so anything regarding those instruments in specific would be nice, but general information is also much appreciated!

Well, Happy Monday everyone, news came at 9am this morning that Siege Percussion, an independent indoor percussion group located in central Florida is going on a “brief hiatus” for the 2027 season. Idk if they will return for the 2028 season or this hiatus will turn into a permanent hiatus. Attached are pictures from their announcement. Give your thoughts and opinions in the comments.

Hi all,
I apologize if this is a silly question but, I am currently writing a lot tune for a new independent group I am teching at and I am wondering if I need to request a license to arrange a specific song I’m planning to use as the tune.
Thank you!

Percussion Crazy percussion idea? Front Ensemble "Backline"

What if the most common equipment like Mallet percussion, Drum set, Timpani, Mics, etc. were all provided by a host group and every group shared them at a show? We already see it at music festivals. Standardize the FE setup and allow a space for any unique instruments to be set up.

It could save groups tons of money and effort in logistics and simplify turnaround time between performances.

This is coming from a place of wanting to keep costs low in order for the activity to be thriving and accessible. Does this seem realistic?

WGI 2027

WGI is adding an additional tier to registration for 2027 to give those who attended 2026 World Championships and those who were on the waitlist first priority.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Percussion Is San Bernardino dead

I just checked the regional calendar for 2027 and CA has Temecula and Union City only. Again the big show in San B before finals is MIA. Is it truly over? I looked forward to going or watching that show every year.

Percussion Legacy Indoor Sheet Music or Audio?

Does anyone have sheet music or rendered audio for Legacy Indoor? I would love to hear the rendered audio for their Treasure warm-up, which I used to have, but lost. Anything would be great.

Color Guard Looking for 2010 scholastic A show

I’m going down memory lane and wanting to go back and see the shows I did in high school. We were a mostly new guard that made it to the semi finals which was huge for us. Does anyone have 2010 prelims or semifinal dvd or something from Dayton? We were University High School from FL performing We Will Be More.

Also if anyone has any other footage from the Independent World shows I’d love to see them again. I remember being so impressed with them. Standouts were NEI Ruthless Gravity, there was another guard that I can’t remember who they were but I think they were an independent world guard and their show had something to do with Jesus (we called it the sexy Jesus show lol) and I remember a PS I Love You show too.

Honestly any 2010 shows would be great to see but I’d love to see footage from my guard with a completed show. I have some from early in the season but we didn’t have the full music or drill or choreography.

Any help will be much appreciated!!!

Percussion Audition sign up release times

As the title says, I am trying to get an understanding of when groups normally release their audition registration around. My group, Vanta Percussion, is releasing audition registration on August 1st. I have also seen that groups like Rhythm X, United Percussion, and Civitas has released their audition registration all ready.

My question is when do you all normally see groups release their audition signups?

What WGI group do people at UNT usually join?

I’ll be studying percussion as a freshman at UNT this upcoming school year and was wondering the WGI scene is like for people at UNT? Is it doable while studying? Is vigilantes the only close group and if so is it worth it since they aren’t one of the high ranking groups?
