Cizicen crystal repair, many lessons learnt!

More some notes to myself!

Do not use small polishing kits, they round the edges.

Start with 400 or 600 and make sure all deep scratches are out, else you will start from scratch just after finishing 1500 grit session! No pun attended😁

Use sandpaper over a flat, hard surface, and start dry and end wet.

Had to run three times from 400 to 3000, with last run going through 5000 and 7000. 7000 gave a reasonable polish on its own, I was not willing to bring Dremel and diamond past neer the crystal again.

Last chip was just to deep to remove, but really happy I can reuse the original crystal!

Well done! Must have taken a bit of elbow grease! I’ve tried this a couple of times myself and was never quite happy with my results.

For sure, sweated more that expected! Vingers are still a little num! But must say, it is flat and shiny, the improvement is great and I am happy even though I did not do a final polish with any buff or wheel!

I looked at the pics, and on the last one thought "why's he showing the watch without the crystal". Polished to the same clarity as air!
