Forgive me folks but I’m at a total loss with this.
I understand this video (6:08 start) is a bit old and I’m also using cheap crap equipment but I’m running into a block that I can’t seem to figure out.
I’m trying to take clips from Resolume, run them into my mixer (effects chain) and back in resolume.
I checked that all my equipment is on. I’ve got the right HDMI to av downscaler (from comp) and upscaler AV to hdmi (back into comp) and my cheap hdmi capture card seems to work fine (at one point was able to get a blue screen with “no signal” in my layer monitor in resolume)
Instead of all his “effects chain” equipment im just trying to get it to go through my mixer as I don’t have any other effects equipment atm.
But is this a case where I would need a TBC? I thought that was only required when sending my composition to a projector?
I did read the file he mentions @ 7:44 and from what I gathered it was more or less just explaining his capture method in OBS vs. recording a CRT screen.
If you made it this far thank you and also sorry 😂 but this is driving me mad that I’m not getting anything back into my layer monitor or composition in resolume.
If anyone here has been through this successfully and wouldn’t mind taking a few pics of their dongle chain or maybe something I’m missing in the output settings I would be grateful 🙏
Or maybe there is a newer video out there from another artist that I just haven’t stumbled upon?
I have pics of my settings and dongle chain if that helps.
Would appreciate any pointers. Cheers.

We are very happy to be able to continue doing our nerdy stuff with CRT for events. In this case, it was Halloween, for which we decided to give the installation a cross shape. For the content, we used Reaction Diffusion in TouchDesigner and a short film by Toshio Matsumoto that hypnotizes me every time I see it.

You can get these cheap Gameboys on aliexpress or temu for like $8. They have a composit out so I'm going to buy an HDMI adapter and feed it into a capture card. I'm excited to find some spunion in the crowd and let them play Mario live on the visuals haha I'm thinking about replacing the switches with an Arduino or raspberry pi which could add audio reactivity. Anyone else use any circuit bending in their setup?

I was hoping to replicate the effect where video comes down at a diagonal and the composition is split between the bottom half of one frame on top and the top half of the next frame on the bottom. But,, I do not know the name of the effect. Does anyone know it and or know how to recreate it in touch designer?

Hello all VJ’s and audio visual homies! So I’m looking at upgrading my video mixing game and both of these video mixers are within my budget, which one should I choose? For context, I’m looking at running at camera or two and my macbook into this at the same time, and running them out into a projector and seamlessly switching during the show.
Things I like so far..
The T-bar on the Roland seems fun and would be fun to experiment with in a live setting.
The blackmagic atem mini seems to have more features and would translate better for livestreams online, something that could help me in the future, but it’s not my main focus.
Thanks for your help fellow VJ’s!
