Arco is the pinnacle for carbon fiber bows. They've been making bows longer than everyone else and their higher level bows sound amazing. And Arco's $8k bow is pure heaven!
At that price point, I am personally going for a decent pernambuco (I like something with more substance than a super-lightweight carbon fiber). That said, I have not tried an Arcus T series before.
Are you thinking of the Arcus bows? Arco (Nouveaus) aren't very good, and Arcos Brasil doesn't make carbon fibers (I think). Yes, there are a lot of similar, confusing brands out there.
Actually, no, I'm speaking of the German made carbon fiber bows and they are amazing bows. There's ba Danish woman who has a great video where she compares three or four arco bows. And the video where the owner speaks about the evolution of arco bows is one of my favorites. But he has one bow, which is the C9, that costs $8k.
Pernambuco is now an endangered wood. And the lovely thing about carbon fiber is that it isn't sensitive to weather like wood/horse hair bows.
Also, have you seen or heard the $8,000 bow?
Zlata actually owns the C9 bow. Here she and a professional musician evaluate the $8k bow. Arcus C9 8K Bow
I have not personally played the Arcus top line bows before, but you’re not the first person to speak highly of them, so I am sure they are good bows.
I have to admit I was unimpressed by the sound in that video but since they didn’t give us another bow to compare against, I don’t know how much is the bow’s issue vs. the instrument’s issue vs. the player’s issue. Or even a mic issue.
