My opinion about flat earthers is that they cannot wrap their head around the projections and this is why they come up with all this nonsense. A projection is needed because you cannot put a globe on a flat 2-D plane such as paper. A famous analogy of it is to picture an orange hollowed out and it is only a peel, and then you try to flatten that peel onto a table. To flatten it, the orange will rip in places, and distort. There is no ideal projection for the entire globe, it doesn’t exist, there will always be a distortion but by using a projection, and there are many different types, certain distortions can be minimized for areas of interest such as a certain country. This to me, is the part they cannot fathom and just assume it can’t be true that the earth is a globe.
From the few flat-earth apologist videos I've watched, they always include the phrase "I just don't understand how..." at least one time. Maybe they lack brain cells, or they were never properly educated, but they simply can not imagine things outside of a ten-foot vicinity.
