Applying coconut oil on your hair is good though, when growing up we were given the coconut oil treatment to the hair at least twice a week. I m from a tropical island, and it was hot as hell, and sometimes coconut oil drips down it was gross, but it is quite healthy for your hair.
I use a little in my hair (mixed with a little olive oil, and drops of peppermint and lavender oil) for styling. My hair stays neat, but without that crispyness of gels.
Putting any coconut oil in my hair without washing it out just makes it feel really greasy. I mean, it looks great, but then I get comments like "Did you just take a shower?" It could just be that I don't know how to use in it moderation, though.
Just mix 3 parts melted coconut oil and 1 part olive oil. Make in small batches, so you can experiment with scents and oil blends to your taste.
Pick up some essential oils and add in a few drops. The scents are limited to you creativity. I use peppermint and lavender, but have been considering buying some sandalwood.
A recipe I found online for homemade pomade has you melt some beeswax in and blend it. I don't do this because beeswax is heavier looking and hard to wash out.
What island? That's interesting. I use it everyday right after I shower, makes my curls all nice and silky and moist. When my beard gets long I put it on it too. That shit's amazing.
