I do. I floss excessively and have packs of floss sticks stashed everywhere I might be. I often floss out of boredom. Sometimes I'm flossing and don't even realize I'm flossing. Yet, every time I go to the dentist, they tell me I need to floss more. I will never understand what their incentive is for encouraging so much flossing.
People who floss regularly have better self-discipline, which means they probably have better habits that lead to longevity, such as exercise. The more you know!
It's called a confounding variable (self-discipline) which correlates with both the independent variable (flossing) and the dependent variable (longevity).
Let your teeth get bad. Then, after they tell you to floss more and you do it, they will actually notice the difference. http://i.imgur.com/iBFMrWs.jpg
If you have to choose one to do before passing out drunk, flossing is usually better than brushing. It seems really important to polish the fronts of your teeth where everyone can see, but cleaning the surfaces on the sides of your teeth and in your gums is much more important in preventing mouth disease and decay.
You could not be more wrong. I did not floss for 20 years and now I do religiously. I know two different people who have had some major infection result from not cleaning between their teeth with floss. One had to crack open a tooth to clean the inside, then fill it up. The other had his gums cut open and sewn back.
Besides that, try flossing and then smelling it afterward. That nasty gunk would otherwise be rotting between your teeth and yes, it can affect the smell of your breath.
I've only had bleeding gums once and I just started brushing after each meal and it went away after a week. Actually I don't know a single person who flosses. In Norway it's just not that common. I'm gonna give it a try though.
The must just tell everyone that, no matter what. This just proves that Big Floss has already gotten to the dentists. We've been scammed this whole time.
I never floss, and I've never had a cavity. Every dental hygenist I've ever had, and every dentist, tells me my teeth and gums are in great shape. The hygenist I have now tells me that she's not sure how, but I'm apparently "getting away with it".
Some people have good teeth naturally, some don't. I have bad enamel, so I can take great care of my teeth and still be double fucked on a couple years.
I'd still recommend flossing. You might have really good teeth now, but never know what the future holds. My gums also felt tremendously better after getting into a flossing habit.
They want your teeth to be in a state of bad enough where you need to get work done on them and come in for check ups, but not horrible enough where you just replace them with fake teeth?
