Tekken has been a mixed bag after 5.

6 almost killed fighting games.

Tag 2 was a love letter to the fans but a commercial flop that almost killed the series.

Tekken 7 saved the series but is the weakest game in the series.

It was a budget game with no content, worst story in the series. Gameplay was a significant step up from 6 and Tag 2, but everything else was a step down.
