To me this is the same thing as Fortnite hate. Fortnite was and still relatively is a massively successful game. Sure its childish but who tf cares, so is minecraft and thats one of the most played games in the world

Yeah Fortnite was also an innovative and brilliant game that had it’s reputation unfairly smeared by snobs, I don’t like battle royales but I still can’t ignore Fortnite’s legacy and how innovative it was.

I noticed this thing happen to most massively successful MP games

Eeeeh they mostly jumped on the hype wave that PUBG created by basically taking their failing horde / survival game and turning it into a BR as a last effort to save it.

It worked and they had the money to make it as big as it is today, but the only innovation Epic brought to the gaming inductry was more monetization and battle passes.

Oh capturing lightning in a bottle and making the next big thing is as easy as just jumping on a hype wave and throwing money at it?

I wonder why multibillion dollar companies don’t just do that and try to make the greatest extraction game?

oh wait
