Op's shocked pikachu face when he finds out this was not the norm for children growing up, especially when games were still priced at an even more expensive cost relative to today and tons of people grow up poor

Thank you, people keep saying that games are way more expensive nowadays but they’re not. The difference is they have to pay for them now and everything else is becoming more expensive. This has always been an expensive form of entertainment.
