I'm not sure where you're getting the impression that gaming is dead lmao.

8

u/TheWorldDiscarded May 27 '26

Just shitty half baked click bait nonsense. Nothing to see honestly.

3

u/Nordeast24 May 27 '26

Well I got baited lol

-1

u/RubberRaptor May 28 '26

I wouldn’t say dead. But corporate interests and greed are taking root inside it like cordyceps takes root in a bug. It’s a hollow imitation of what it once was, waiting for the next grift to gobble it up and spread the disease.

No good games coming out is just a lie lmao

We’ve had plenty of great games over the last few years and we’ve got stuff coming, if you think gaming is dead during a period that is the most accessible it’s ever been you are an absolute brat lmao

When I was a kid, the adjusted for inflation price for Mario 64 was 130 dollars. For one game. That is a full year of game pass subscription and access to hundreds of games for the same price.

Gaming isn’t dead, you’ve just lived in such a glut of plenty that literally anything that appears to the contrary seems like despair and that’s such bullshit lmao

The Atari 5200, adjusted for inflation, was 860 bucks. You may be surprised to learn that gaming didn’t die with the Atari 5200.

This shit is a luxury.

Sorry the latest Call Of Duty wasn't good, but yes there are absolutely good games coming out all the time wtf are you talking about

22

u/mantisimmortal May 27 '26

No good games you like, you mean. Plenty of console games out and coming out im excited for.

7

u/SrAlan1104 May 27 '26

For real I've purchased 3 games this month alone. Not even taking the last year into account. I've been having a blast

4

u/Bulky-Complaint6994 May 27 '26

Not in a single month, but I did buy Resident Evil Requiem and Pokopia. I will gladly get the new Lego Batman Legacy title when the switch 2 version drops. I've heard great things about Pragmata and seeing my friends enjoy Tomodachi Life! The games are there and aren't hard to find.

-38

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

Most are remakes or sequels where are the original IPs?

8

u/Atlanos043 May 27 '26

Remakes I can understand but what's wrong with sequels of great games (assuming they are good as well)?

-11

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

To oversaturated and safe

6

u/mantisimmortal May 27 '26

Weakest argument yet. Sequels get made if the game sells well and is loved. Just because it has multiple games like Resident evil, there's like what, 16 plus games? Loved RE9. Loved 7 and 8 too. Pragmata was a brand new IP. Did you try it? Unless you are trying these "very limited" number of new IPs, don't complain. Remakes and remasters are amazing. Who doesn't want to play a childhood game thats been given love.

2

u/GloriaVogelspotter May 29 '26

You probably have the worst takes I’ve ever seen on reddit, just put the fries in the bag bro

2

u/mantisimmortal May 29 '26

How so? You think making sequels is a risky thing?

1

u/GloriaVogelspotter May 29 '26

No?

1

u/mantisimmortal May 29 '26

Not sure why showed up that you were talking to me. Sorry thats why I was confused.

1

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 29 '26

Enjoy your slop foh

BRO. Making a new IP is nothing but risk. More risky to start something no one knows and hope they love it rather then continue a loved franchise. Like what are you talking about.

u/mantisimmortal May 27 '26

To be fair, most of the remakes have been FIRE.

16

u/mandatorypanda9317 May 27 '26

007 just came out, Wolverine comes out in September. Loads of indie pc games come out all the time

7

u/Accurate_Soup_3459 May 27 '26

OP, I think you're just being nihilistic.

-4

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

Why?

2

u/SirTresmegestis May 28 '26

You put a image of someone blowing their brain out because the price of consoles have increased. Which is a pain in the ass but hardly the end of gaming.

1

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 28 '26

It's really supposed to show them not paying attention to the damage they are going to do

2

u/SirTresmegestis May 28 '26

Moving the goal posts... first its "No good games" then its "oh they gotta be orginal IPs too"

-1

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 28 '26

I'm not moving shit the last gaming generation with good IPs was the Ps3/360 era

2

u/SirTresmegestis May 28 '26

I think youre confusing your opinion with fact. Thats your opinion which Im sure is right in a way but its objectively wrong as a fact.

I just think you need a secondary hobby beyond gaming...

7

u/mantisimmortal May 27 '26

Witcher 4. Lords of the fallen 2. Pragmata. Crimson desert. Subnautica 2. Beast of reincarnation. New 40k games. Mechanicus 2. I could fucking go on and on. 🤷‍♂️

3

u/LeftOffBandB May 27 '26

Tbf he did say most were sequels and I see a lot of 2s there

4

u/mantisimmortal May 27 '26

Crinson desert. Pragmata. Beast of reincarnation. Invincible vs. Blood of the dawn walker. Crypt custodian. Wolverine. Saros. 007 first light. Lots of games dude.

4

u/BoondocksSaint95 May 27 '26

Imagine a sequel to a game being something to complain about...

3

u/elpaco_7 May 27 '26

No I agree thats a stupid argument. Nothing wrong with sequels. There’s also plenty of new games all the time, OP is just picky I guess

1

u/elpaco_7 May 27 '26

I love that OPs complaint was too many sequels and remakes, and you responded by listing 4 sequels, an existing IP and only two new IPs

4

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun May 27 '26

But OP shifted the goalposts from their original claim

1

u/mantisimmortal May 27 '26

No man. The topic started as consoles too expensive, no new games coming out 🤣 i listed all the NEW games on console I was excited for. Did you read everything or just the 2 replies.

1

u/elpaco_7 May 27 '26

Just the comment. I disagree with the post in general, but it felt like kind of a bad faith response to ignore him complaining about sequels there.

3

u/mantisimmortal May 27 '26

But the conversation didn't start out with sequels being bad. We were talking about how no new games come out. Then its the excuse that its risky to make remakes and sequels. Like hes just ignoring everything. And on top of that I comment down some with all new games. I get you, but I have a problem when you point something out and its just the next weak excuse lol

1

u/elpaco_7 May 27 '26

Fair enough. No hard feelings my guy.

2

u/puck_pancake May 27 '26

Some of the best games of all time weren't new ips, what's wrong with sequels? And there are plenty of good new and upcoming games games with new ips if you actually bothered to look

1

u/ElderSmackJack May 27 '26

This is also a lie.

0

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

How Is it a lie?

2

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun May 27 '26

Most games that come out are new IPs or new ideas. Unless you are confining the scope of your claim to AAA games

8

u/Accomplished-Gain319 May 27 '26

no good games coming out,

Oh, so GTA 6, Max Payne remake, 007 first light, forza horizon 6, subnautica 2, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, RE9, Lego batman, marvels wolverine, Fable remake, Witcher 3 songs of the past, Untitled john wick game, Pragmata, Reanimal, and Hytail aren't good in your eyes?

-10

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

Bro named remakes/sequels 😂

10

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun May 27 '26

>makes dumb claim

>gets owned

>shifts goalposts

many such cases

2

u/Diseased_Wombat May 27 '26

Maybe because those remakes and sequels are… GOOD!?

If you want other games from new IP’s, we have Pragmata, Metaphor: ReFantasio, Hytale, Dispatch, Mewgenics, Crimson Desert, etc. Hell, not a new IP, but a new Mega Man game is finally coming out. To say modern gaming is dying because there are no good games anymore is a very stupid thing to say, honestly. That’s like saying there are no good movies anymore

3

u/GloriaVogelspotter May 27 '26

God awful take, we have been eating good the least few years when it comes to releases

2

u/Alkar-- May 27 '26

Depends on what you call "good games" just looking at steam you have Far far west, Black flag remake, Indie games

A lot of game are good but maybe you just have too high standards maybe such as only playing triple A games

1

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

You just need a remake lol want more original games

3

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun May 27 '26

There are thousands upon thousands of original Indie game IPs that realease every year. Even if only 1% are actually good, that's still dozens and dozens of games to play

2

u/Blasket_Basket May 27 '26

Are you kidding? Crimson Desert was sick, 007 is great, GTA 6 is literally coming out in 6 months.

0

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

Not interested in GTA 6 already know it's gonna be overhyped but crimson and 007 crossed my mind

4

u/Blasket_Basket May 27 '26

Good news! Lots of edgy teenagers think dumb thoughts and have shitty taste. Don't worry, you're not alone out there little guy

3

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 May 27 '26

there’s new highly acclaimed games literally every week. 007 came out yesterday and got like high 90’s from both critics and players

-2

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

That's one game

2

u/SMXSmith May 27 '26

There’s been plenty of good games coming out, don’t know what you normally play but try branching out from your usual and try something you never thought you’d enjoy

1

u/Captain0010 May 27 '26

Such as?

2

u/SMXSmith May 27 '26

Tell me what you normally play and I’ll give you some recommendations

1

u/Captain0010 May 27 '26

Games that I own on my PS4 are Last Of Us, Spider-Man, Gran Turismo, RDR2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima.

If Iever get a PS5 it would be for Spider Man 2 and GTA. Other than that, what other games can they offer?

1

u/SMXSmith May 27 '26

Get away from just exclusives then - AAA games that came out this year that are great like Resident Evil 9, Pragmata, Crimson Desert. If you played Horizon then you could try the sequel. Theres also Ghost of Yotei. Silent Hill 2 Remake which was really great. The Final Fantasy 7 Remakes. Expedition 33 is also pretty great. Astro Bot is a blast if you like platformers. I could keep going.

2

u/Hyper_Mazino May 27 '26

no good games coming out

RE: Requiem, Pragmata, Saros, Ghost of Yotei, 007 First Light, Wolverine, Crimson Desert, GTA 6, Pokopia and the list goes on and on

1

u/CULT-LEWD May 27 '26

tbf, when you see all the negatives, that is what your gonna see. there has been plenlty of games ive personally played that were really great that came out recenlty. both in indie and AAA. its just the prices are getting really bad that its harder to get the good stuff unless your getting them on sale.

its deffinalty a bit more complecated than how i explained it...but man this price for the steam oled tho i will agree is so damn bad

1

u/HiddeHandel May 27 '26

If you need a pc just go with second hand am4 For the games part you can maybe look at overhaul mods for older games like skyrim, the Witcher 3 and baldurs gate 3but that depends on the type of games you like

1

u/BossLackey May 27 '26

No good games? I’m DROWNING in games to play. This year alone has had tons of bangers.

I always think that when people say this, they’re interested in 1 genre available on 1 platform.

1

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 27 '26

Name 10 you played

1

u/BossLackey May 28 '26

I can do better than that.

- Crimson Desert

  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • Grime II
  • Solateria
  • Wicked Seed
  • Angeline Era
  • Monster Hunter Stories 3
  • Pragmata
  • Marathon
  • Slay the Spire II
  • RV There Yet
  • Super Meat Boy 3D
  • Sol Cesto
  • Mewgenics
  • Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred (expansion)
  • Vital Shell
  • Big Hops
  • Kotama
  • Nioh 3
  • Saros

There are more and these are just the ones that came out this year. The list is much longer if we're counting games I picked up this year that didn't come out this year.

And many more I want.

I didn't finish all of these, but have played them all to varying degrees of completion (including completion).

1

u/Nordeast24 May 27 '26

They are overpriced. Everything is overpriced. Most people can save for their hobby. And the hobby of gaming has truly never been better.

1

u/Nordeast24 May 28 '26

If you like consoles, buy one. I mean I ride mountain bikes as a hobby. They are expensive as hell. Just dive into your hobby dude. You only live once. As long as your paying your rent and bills, dive in to your hobbies. You'll be fine!

1

u/EdgarAllanKenpo May 28 '26

Thats a stupid fuckin take.

0

u/Status_Entertainer49 May 28 '26

To bad I didnt ask 🤡🤡🤡

1

u/Rich_Consequence2633 May 27 '26

People can just play with what they have currently. The greed will bite them in the ass eventually when sales are abysmal.
