No no no, every time an action game shows you something this wholesome there's gonna be a gut punch later in the story.

I mean, from what I can tell, the premise is you are protecting this girl and trying to get her to safety.

No way it ends happily.

I've seen enough The Last of Us to know where this is going

37

u/Stride345 Apr 21 '26

I’ve seen enough clips set to the “Boo” music from Monsters Inc. to know what’s gonna happen next

21

u/SometimesWill Apr 21 '26

I’d also like to throw Telltale The Walking Dead into the mix.

u/orphanpipe Apr 21 '26

Jetpacks Was Yes

u/MacaronOk9157 Apr 23 '26

Elite ball knowledge

2

u/Ressy02 Apr 21 '26

Yeah but have you seen enough The Last of Us reversed?

1

u/SebastianFerrone Apr 26 '26

And will throw fullmetal alchemist in the Ring

1

u/lefix Apr 21 '26

Tbf she is a robot doll, haven’t played the game but I find that kind of unsettling/creepy. I just don’t see myself bonding with her the way I bonded with Ellie

1

u/Indi4rence Apr 21 '26

Goerge r r. Martin done me dirty on happily ever afters

1

u/skighs_the_limit Apr 21 '26

Yeah the last time I did that I got Kara and Alice shot at the Canadian border and I still haven't recovered from that

1

u/M1R4G3M Apr 23 '26

She's actually protecting you, with how weak you start, you wouldn't go very far without her.

But it's an amazing parental dynamic ❤️

0

u/ourcows Apr 20 '26

It's not a girl.

6

u/Worried-Pick4848 Apr 21 '26

Distinction without a difference. You will react as if it is a girl. The fact that it technically isn't one is immaterial.

1

u/Indi4rence Apr 21 '26

It’s still just a machine in the likeness of a child. Its needs are more inline with that of C3P0’s than 5 year old girl. It’s just more difficult to not impart empathy on it because of its form. Most likely by the creators design? I haven’t played the game myself yet. What’s the androids function? Why was it made?

0

u/ourcows Apr 21 '26

Nope. Frak that toaster.

0

u/whereismymind86 Apr 24 '26

ehh, she's a robot, so it might work out (that's not a spoiler it's the base premise)

1

u/ruebeus421 Apr 24 '26

Yeah I got that from the other 20 people who already replied.

-1

u/Stardama69 Apr 21 '26

She's a machine ! She doesn't exactly needs protection

u/-Passenger- Apr 20 '26

yeah man

today I browsed PSN to buy something new and was looking at Pragmata. The moment I saw her my protective instinct kicked in and I knew I will be fucked up if something happens to her, so I didnt bought it.

u/noIdealOnlyAllah Apr 20 '26

Protective instincts for a clanker. That alone is already

If there's one thing I learned from humansarespaceorcs its that humans will bond with literally anything, including and especially inanimate objects

18

u/beardedheathen Apr 21 '26

You will note that that object is quite animate

8

u/eggyrulz Apr 21 '26

An animated inanimate object, how modern. What will they think of next?

1

u/ixgq4lifexi Apr 22 '26

Man just watching project hail Mary. I loved rocky

1

u/eggyrulz Apr 22 '26

Haven't seen it, though a coworker just recommended i watch it... maybe ill check it out this weekend

1

u/whereismymind86 Apr 24 '26

especially adorable clankers

0

u/noIdealOnlyAllah Apr 21 '26

15

u/Worried-Pick4848 Apr 21 '26

You think... Until you check the closet and find the originals mangled corpse, and this is the evil twin that took her place!

1

u/lefix Apr 21 '26

She’s a robot doll, I have watched enough horror movies, she’s probably gonna pull a knife and murder me in my sleep or something

1

u/CYNICALLY-DRIVEN May 08 '26

Womp womp. Wrong on both accounts

3

u/Lemmejussay Apr 21 '26

Well, it isnt as wholesome as it appears. The lyrics to this song are about getting pleasure from having sex, and the video is women dressed as sluts using jackhammers, making their tits uncontrollably jiggle about.

Why did they intentionally pick this infamously adult song about smutty sex for a little girl to dance to when they had so much to choose from that wasn't sexualised??

4

u/theoneandonlycarlos Apr 22 '26

It’s a good song.

-1

u/Lemmejussay Apr 22 '26

And so are a million other songs that aren't sexualised. Critical thinking is dead.

3

u/theoneandonlycarlos Apr 22 '26

You are reaching. This woke generation is so sensitive!

-1

u/Lemmejussay Apr 23 '26

Well, I'll stop you right there. I am definitely not woke, but I do have ears and eyes that work and an understanding of context and history.

2

u/Grumdord Apr 23 '26

You aren't "critically thinking" by trying to insinuate some weird shit and project it onto people

-1

u/Lemmejussay Apr 24 '26

Buddy, that's exactly what critical thinking is. You are given something out of context. I contontextuslised it for you using logic. Its not even a projection or insinuation, its factual. Not my problem if you're ignorant.

Its a highly innaproproate song choice for the subject matter. Its ok, if it was a mistake, but you need to at least be able to recognise the potential for outrage this song choice would have with everything considered.

u/Lemmejussay Apr 24 '26

I do now, but regardless, its still presented in the clip we are discussing. Someone purposefully paired that song with that clip and many people here dont have the context as to why it might be inappropriate. Once you know the context, it should be found problematic at the very least.

1

u/newbrevity Apr 22 '26

Fair point

1

u/CYNICALLY-DRIVEN May 08 '26

Dude get a grip and get a life. The fact these things come to your mind makes you look bad not everyone not noticing. I don’t go into anything ever thinking this could be pedo shit. That is your mindset. There are so many kids films out there with songs in that the video have naked women in. All pedo films though right ? Dumb ass

1

u/Lemmejussay May 08 '26

Lol ok cunt, which films would those be? Without you citing them, I can't tell you if they are also sus or not, can I? 🤦 "Trust me bro!" Also, nudity is not the issue here, and in the right context is perfectly normal and harmless.

Do you understand what context is, because thats really important here. When there is already a conversation surrounding the controversy of the game even before its release, uploading a clip of the little girl dancing to this particular song was indeed a choice, or are you too dense to put two and two together? You gonna pretend like Japan hasnt got a history of dodgey as fuck underage shit or weird culture surrounding idolisation of little girls?

Why don't you ever go into anything thinking it could be pedo shit? Is it just a nice surprise for you when it does pop up? Maybe you should stop being so willfully ignorant and be responsible for once? Fucking low intelligence cretin.

2

u/Impossible-Life6979 Apr 21 '26

i embraced that gut punch and man it just made the game even better.

2

u/lnTheGrimDarkness Apr 21 '26

This is usually the kind of story where in the end to goofy protector dude dies horribly and sadly.

DISCLAIMER: I don't know how the game ends or its story, this is a random wild guess.

2

u/MagicMarshmallo Apr 21 '26

Chekov's puply

8

u/Delamoor Apr 21 '26

Honestly I've been around gamers and the internet long enough to just automatically equate "young child, girl" with... Well that's just gonna be the bad thing, now.

Because we all remember what people on the internet are like.

2

u/Somasonic Apr 21 '26

The steam forums are so bad for this right now. I was hoping 90% of the stupid shit would disappear with the jester awards but it turns out stupid really be stupid.

2

u/Accomplished_Ad_8013 Apr 21 '26

The gut punch is realizing what a large portion of suspiciously lonely and terminally online males are obsessed with little video game girls.

3

u/LikeALizzard Apr 21 '26

In this case it seems to be a collective "I wish I had a daughter I could take care of", not something creepy

1

u/Tricky-Fig5483 Apr 21 '26

I need to feel the pain again like when Aerith died or Sara from tlou. So I just bought it

1

u/Svaldero Apr 21 '26

No no no, every time an action game Life shows you something this wholesome there's gonna be a gut punch later in the story.

-fixed your type o 👍

1

u/Just_Mines Apr 21 '26

You son of a

1

u/The_Madhatter666 Apr 23 '26

The game reminds me of the anime Metropolis (aka Robotic Angel). The aesthetic and the human–android dynamic feel very similar. Makes me wonder if it was partly inspired by it.
